I'm from the camp that believes that Trump is being propped up by the DNC/DOJ/media to make him a martyr and guarantee his win in the primaries. The same hatred that cost him the 2020 election (combined with sketchy voting practices) will preclude his return to the White House. There's a roadmap for beating him with Biden and I think Trump gets trounced by Newsom. Add to that Kennedy siphoning votes from Rs and Is who can't get themselves to vote for Trump in the general and it's a foregone conclusion.
Under that assumption, the polls are the result of an effective campaign.
I'll vote for Trump in the general if that's the way it shakes out, but IMO, DeSantis is the RNCs only hope of a victory in '24.
So you believe the DNC/DOJ/Media impeached Trump with the Russia Dossier, criminally prosecuted General Flynn (likely Trump's closes ally), and is launching all of these malicious prosecutions against Trump because they want him to be the nominee. That is a theory i guess.
I kind of take the inverse position. If those same bodies left Trump to his own devices and moved on to running the country, I believe Trump would have lost favor with his base due to his lies and shenanigans exposing his own deficiencies. DeSantis was gaining momentum early on in the process.
What's been the end result of all of this work to destroy Trump? He becomes a martyr, his polling numbers are through the roof and he'd be fighting for his political future. As it stands, these actions have cleared the way for him to walk away with the nomination. It doesn't add up to me and that's why I think there's a deliberate effort to prop Trump up. They know how to beat him with a geriatric dementia patient and wholly unfit VP. Plug in two stronger candidates and '24 is going to be more of a bloodbath than '20.
Yeah, a heavy dose of salt on the tinfoil hat, but the current actions don't make sense to me given the outcome thus far.
