Lake is going to win the nomination.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/kari-lake-launches-bid-us-senate-arizona

She will lose by 7-10 points in a two-way race and would probably finish third in a three-way race.

I suppose that is one take. The other take says that if she wins the nomination in a Republican state then she should win. What math are you using?

Not going to happen.

She will get the MAGA vote and that's it.

The McCain Republicans will vote for Sinema, and the Democrats will vote for the Marxist.

The Marxist will win, and Lake will spend 2 years claiming it was stolen and MAGA will eat it up.

You sure a state that has two democratic senators and voted for Biden is a Republican state?

Rs won't be winning Arizona for a very long time. Hell, McCain was a not so closet democrat with a boner for foreign wars anyway.

She already lost a statewide vote for governor. Why would she win a statewide vote for Senator?

Arizona Republicans and independents loves mushy, milquetoast Republicans. If one isn't on the ballot, they don't vote, or vote Democrat.

She lost a statewide vote when the person in charge of counting the votes was her opponent? That's pretty bizarre.

I mean, Georgia has two democratic senators and voted for Biden as well.

For the Republicans it boils down to, play stupid games win stupid prizes.

Would still be better than a Democrat. At least he would vote for a Republican to be majority leader. Sometimes that is the best one can hope for from some states.

And I say that as someone who loathed McCain for years.

Would rather have one of those mushy Republicans that you can count on about 90% of the time than a Marxist.

The one that's says she lost to a person who did LITERALLY NOTHING except let Kari Lake blabber and **** talk.

Since then Kari Lake has only made even more far-out statements that have turned off more squishy republicans she'd need to win in a purple state.

She's gonna get boat raced in the general. Only a Jeff Flake squishy Republican is gonna take that state, not a fire-breather

Just like Georgia, plenty of Republicans can win Arizona, see the Treasurer election for example (Yee outperformed Lake by 120K votes) or Ducey winning there for almost a decade. Just not someone who went full Trump/Maga in a state that mostly hates him, and who was dumb enough to tell McCain supporters to stay home.

Arizona is not close to a state that mostly hates Trump. At all. Get rid of corrupt unauditable insecure mass mailed jokes of elections and results like potus in 2020 and gov and senate in 2022 are different.

This. COVID saw a huge flight of moderate Dems fleeing CA to AZ who have no interest in voting R, or voting R for a moron like Lake.

There is a path to getting R control with a non Juan McCain, but it's not with a nutjob like her.

Here's how it goes: Republicans vote in a primary. That means that is the best candidate for Republicans. If that candidate doesn't win, it's probably likely no Republican would win. How is this math still troubling people?

Okay so how does she prevent that next time?

I thought she had a legit complaint. There were ballot printing errors on election day 2022 in Arizona, and that's when mostly Republicans were voting. Not sure if you could prove enough to sway an election, but definitely worthy of complaining about, especially when your opponent was secretary of state.

Probably by all of her lawsuits she has been filing against Katie Hobbs? All of the lawsuits some Republicans are calling fruitless and sour grapes?

Instead of asking how she could prevent that, why aren't you asking why Katie Hobbs didn't step down from her position as the person who is in charge of counting votes when she was running for the highest office in the state??

Other Republicans that won the primary DID win. So, winning the Republican nomination means it's entirely possible to win the general election.

However, she won the nomination and lost in a race that other Republicans won. Is that math understandable to you?

BTW, winning the primary does not mean they're the best candidate for the Republicans (to win the general election). It means they were the most popular choice for the Republicans.

However, as they say...remember, the enemy gets a vote, too.

How can they be "fruitless" AND "sour grapes"?

Grapes are fruit, so, ipso facto e pluribus unum, even sour ones make them not fruitless.

Exactly. The playbook for the DNC SuperPACS in a lot of contested elections in 2022 was to make sure the most extreme GOP candidate got nominated.
