It's the same way with flu shots. Many people get sick after getting the flu shot, still end up with the flu that year, and still line up year after year to get a flu shot.

1. In the early days, before the virus evolved, a disturbing amount of people were dying. A cardiologist friend of our died volunteering at the hospital. Only the super scared or weird fought the folks who were trying to do the right thing and help the weaker folks around them, even if all the science didnt pan out. Fighting masks and alike. It showed who didn't give a ahit about their neighbors.

2. Years later, as the virus weakened, you still have virtual signaled wearing masks to make some sort of point. You want to see a ton of these dorks, visit your average local bookstore. Insufferable. Not talking about the occasional cancer patient fighting the fight. Mask up or do whatever but the bookstore employee, you are a putz. Be brave. Adjust. Survive and advance.
