IDF reveals 6 al-Jazeera journalists to be members of Hezbollah and Hamas:
https://nypost.com/2024/10/23/world-news/idf-names-6-al-jazeera-journalists-as-members-of-hamas-islamic-jihad-after-uncovering-documents/
" The Israeli Defense Forces accused journalists Anas al-Sharif, Alaa Salama, Hossam Shabat, Ashraf al-Saraj, Ismail Abu Omar, and Talal Aruki of working with the terror groups as members of their military and propaganda wing.

The six journalists were allegedly named in Hamas documents the IDF recovered and released on Wednesday, listing their work with the terror group, training, telephone numbers and salaries."

" The documents claim al-Sharif headed a rocket launching unit and served on Hamas' elite Nukhba Force in its Nuseirat battalion.

Salama was allegedly a member of the Islamic Jihad working as the deputy chief of its propaganda team in Shaboura. Saraj was also named as an Islamic Jihad member in Bureij."

Maybe they were engaging in "advocacy journalism" which became popular during the BLM riots.

Some type of EMP attack that throws Iran back 200 years would be pretty sweet. And the mullahs may end up liking it.

Agree. Probably a fool's game to predict, but I would not doubt a cyber attack as Israel's retaliatory method, maybe industrially targeted like Stuxnet, maybe financially targeted, maybe military/C&C targeted….or maybe All of the Above.

financially targeted could wreak untold and unimaginable havoc on both the government and economy of Iran.

They would be better off backtracking into the 19th century.

Maybe at first. But then their neighbors are going to see a mortally wounded enemy and act accordingly. Lots of sunni muslims about that would look at conquering/killing shia muslims as an added bonus to taking away their resources.

The ISKP is one of them. This is the group that iirc bombed Abbey Gate, bombed an Iranian memorial service earlier this year, attacked the concert hall in Russia. They are fighting with the Taliban because they don't think the Taliban is religious enough.

Their most recent publication accused Israel and Iran of being secret allies against Sunni purity and allege the two countries have a mutual secret agreement to divide the Middle East between the two of them and wipe out the Sunni population. They are whackjob crazies but the scary thing about them is they've been able to carry out some pretty deadly attacks.

https://thediplomat.com/2024/10/tajik-iskp-escalates-threats-to-iran-and-israel-amid-intensifying-gaza-war/

Iran and others in the region have been conducting operations against them for the last several years. Any sort of destabilization or demilitarization of Iran would likely result in a lot more attacks within Iranian territory and possibly elsewhere.

for comparison sake

1948 war : 6300 killed
1973 war: 3700 killed in twenty days

2023 Swords of Iron War: 1800 killed in 380 days with IDF troops occupying all of Gaza Strip and south Lebanon

correct- although some of the 1948 KIA were not formally members of the IDF

as it was not "officially" established until 1949

That 1,800 includes civilians killed on 10/7 too, no?

https://www.twz.com/news-features/israeli-strikes-knocked-out-all-of-irans-s-300-air-defense-systems-officials

Looks like Israel knocked out all of Iran's S-300 systems. They're not likely to get any replacements from Russia anytime soon because Russia is obviously trying to replace a lot of their own losses for their own war. Doubtful they get anything like an S-400 either because, again, Russia needs them for themselves.

Even if they got more, it would seem kind of pointless considering Israel just killed all the ones they had. They'd be able to knock out any replacements with ease. Iran needs something much better to counter Israel's F-35's, and I don't see that happening unless Russia wants to gift them an S-400 to try it out against real stealth aircraft in combat. Even then, the actual abilities of the S-400 are somewhat suspect considering how they've been spotted with drones and hit so far.

They may have to go to China for air defenses if Russia can't help them. No idea if the Chinese will want to do that or what they'll require in return.

Here is an interesting take on how the Israelis have used modern tactics to avoid much of the typical guerrilla war that occurs in occupied territory. Quite optimistic, says have nearly destroyed HAMAS.

Quote:

Citing a lack of mutual trust, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announces he is firing Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, a longtime rival within the Likud Party.

In a terse letter released by his office, Netanyahu tells Gallant that "your tenure will end 48 hours from the receipt of this letter."

"I would like to thank you for your service as defense minister," he concludes.

allant will be replaced by Foreign Minister Israel Katz. Minister without Portfolio Gideon Sa'ar will replace Katz as foreign minister.

"Unfortunately, although in the first months of the war there was trust and there was very fruitful work, during the last months this trust cracked between me and the Defense Minister," says Netanyahu in a video statement.

He says they disagreed on the management of the war, and that Gallant made decisions and statements that contradict cabinet decisions.

Netanyahu also accuses Gallant of indirectly aiding Israel's enemies.

"I made many attempts to bridge these gaps, but they kept getting wider," he says. "They also came to the knowledge of the public in an unacceptable way, and worse than that, they came to the knowledge of the enemy our enemies enjoyed it and derived a lot of benefit from it."

Wasn't Gallant put in the role at the beginning of the war as a sign of unity? If so, not surprising to see that eventually come to an end.

Nevermind, it was Benny Gantz of Unity joining the war cabinet I was thinking of. War cabinet already dissolved earlier this year.
