Israel may have just completely decapitated Hezbollah in Beirut just now….Looks like up to 10 bunker busters slamming an area.

The Mossad must have some serious badasses embedded in Lebanon sending the intelligence back to the IDF
A large part of Lebanon would prefer Hezbollah be gone as well.

I'm thinking that the Hezbollah guys are really unhappy with the Hamas guys. They may have thought this was great for a day or so, but the ones left alive cannot be happy.

I'd say Hamas has the bigger beef since the plan apparently was originally for Hez to attack from the north to make Israel split their forces and take some of the pressure off Hamas. Instead, when Hez saw how pissed off the Israelis were after the unexpectedly large success (from the Hamas viewpoint) of Oct 7, all they have done is periodically lob rockets into Israel.

Hezbollah is Iran's prized jewel in the Middle East. They've been funding, building, growing the organization since the 70s. It is the most powerful non-state militia in the world. It is the primary way Iran projects power against Israel and a cornerstone of their geopolitical posture.

Iranian leaders are panicking right now. I have to think this is going to spark a major retaliatory move. But what this looks like I'm not sure.

Hezbollah has taken some huge losses in C&C, mid-level, and upper-level leadership over the last two weeks. They weren't handing out the encrypted pagers to the underlings. These were unit commanders, missile squad leaders, engineers, organizers...people you need for the military to function. Those guys aren't replaceable overnight.

Hezbollah's ability to project power in an organized way may be done.

I'm not sure that was really ever the plan.

Hamas is considered expendable by Hezbollah and Iran. They view them as backwater nobodies. Wouldn't shock me if it was a planned double-cross all along.

I think the goal was to provoke the massive Israeli response and do their psyops stuff to try to garner support for the "Palestinian cause." The Israeli response has made it difficult for Israel to continue normalization of relations with Saudi Arabia and definitely impairs their ability to normalize with Turkey. Cooperation between the Turks, Saudis, and Israelis would be the end of Iran's power influence in the ME.

No wonder the ayatollah called an emergency meeting after the strike. Looks like they lost a significant number of their best republican goon guard advisors. Whatever evil they had/were planning isn't happening in its originally envisioned form for a long, long time (if ever). And they're probably not done with their losses because you know the Mossad has accumulated a nice little shopping list of hezbollah & iranian advisors to eliminate.

Yep. Hamas is basically a Muslim Brotherhood franchise (Sunni) while Hezbollah is majority Shia and identifies with Shia Iran. Just temporarily useful tools to be expended in battle, bleeding Israel of blood and treasure.

Agreed. The backbone of the organization, young men in the 80s who kicked it all off, are nearly all gone now i would assume. They built it and who can carry it on? Given how Israel continues to hit targets (senior, junior, caches, comms, etc) makes me wonder if Hezbollah is truly compromised, with no means of secure communications to boot. Isreal won't kill them all, but this may create a power vacuum for another org or leader to fill.

Makes me think of the nursery rhyme Three Blind Mice.

Hezbollah is only as united as Iran makes them. A lot of the Iranian handlers are now dead, too. Looking at a real possibility of a civil war within the ranks of Hez to assert control over the org or whatever is left of it. Iran would have to get involved to pick their preferred winner.

Would not shock me to see some faction of Hezbollah begin to denounce Iran and do their own thing.

Live feed is still showing explosions. Israel has targeted a significant number of weapons storage and launch sites including anti-ship and ballistic missile storage areas. Secondary cook-offs on almost every strike I've seen which generally indicates they've hit the target.

There may not be anyone left to say "fire". And they certainly don't have a way to pass the command down anyway.

Would love it to be confirmed that Nasrallah is in hell right now, but news is kind of 50/50. Seems likely that he's dead and Iran is putting out fake news to regather but who knows.

Rest of the Arab world seems pretty excited that he might be gone.

Israel seems to know quite a bit of intelligence in terms of their weapons storage sites, many of which seem to be residential buildings. They are now doing what they did in Gaza and are directly contacting residents an hour ahead of a strike to tell them to evacuate. They wait an hour and then one boo. followed by a ton of secondaries going off.

I think right now, all those players are just playing STFU or giving some lip service to BAD ISRAEL because they ALL want Hamas and Hezbollah go away. And that would help end Iran's power influence in the ME.

They're letting Israel be the "bad guy".

Then...after a period of time they start to PUBLICLY reengage.

I suspect they have a lot more intelligence on Hezbollah. The Lebanese are probably all on the payroll of the IDF.

The biggest tell is the lack of comment by anyone in Hezbollah. Iran calling the emergency meeting and putting out a statement using the term "martyrs" is also a tell.

Every other time Israel has launched any sort of significant strike, Hezbollah will launch a drone or some rocket or some other thing. Not today.

Live feed is still full of secondaries going off.

What's crazy is the speed, breadth and depth (no pun intended of this effort is so astounding that's one would think they had a mole or moles at the highest level. Or the ayatollah gave them up.

What isreal is doing now is what i expected on 9/12/01. They are now watching the survivors run and hunting them down. With speed, crazy speed. And precision - they are denying H of any claims of dead innocent women children en masse. Granted there are losses, but this is lightyears ahead of previous engagements.
