Looks like a new ground offensive may be planned:

. . . The Israeli army ordered a mass evacuation of Palestinians from much of Khan Younis on Monday, a sign that troops are likely to launch a new ground assault into the Gaza Strip's second-largest city. The order suggests Khan Younis will be the latest target of Israel's raids into parts of Gaza it had previously invaded in the war, as it pursues regrouping Hamas militants.
. . .
The evacuation came as Israel released the director of what was once Gaza's largest hospital after holding him for seven months without charge or trial. Israel alleged the hospital had been used as a Hamas command center, which he and other Palestinian health officials have denied.
. . .
Abu Selmia's release triggered an uproar across Israel's political spectrum. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office called it "a grave mistake." Government ministers and opposition leaders expressed outrage and insisted Abu Selmia played a role in Hamas' alleged use of the hospital although Israeli security services rarely unilaterally free prisoners if they have a suspicion of militant links.
. . .
The order suggested a new assault into Khan Younis was imminent. Israeli forces fought for weeks in Khan Younis earlier this year and withdrew, claiming to have destroyed Hamas battalions. But in other places where the military has made similar claims, renewed raids have underscored Hamas' capabilities.

Last week, the military ordered an evacuation from the north Gaza district of Shijaiyah, and intensive fighting has followed.
. . .

This podcast interview with John Spencer and Sam Fetzman arguing different points of view is very informative. A new offensive in the center Gaza is something that was discussed in this podcast.

https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-honestly-with-bari-weiss-83320022/episode/can-israel-actually-win-this-war-188955909/

I have listened to John Spencer be interviewed by Sam Harris, Jordan Peterson, and now on Bari Weiss' podcast. He covers some of the same ground but each interview includes more facts and insight that I did not know. He's the smartest guy I have heard speak on the Hamas war and he does so from a wealth of firsthand experience as an enlisted and later commissioned Army Ranger. The JBP podcast goes into his upbringing and experience in uniform.

Israel cleared this area, left, Hamas returned and now Israel is going to clear it again?

Yes. Hamas is clearly operating a classical insurgency.

Leave the suicidal to die first so they can cover the tracks of bigger fish. Bigger fish avoid fighting as much and as long as possible.

Israel kills suicidals and moves on to next spot due to lack of targets and resourcing constraints.

Fighters who escaped first round move back in to area just cleared.

Rinse. Repeat.

Yup, it's gonna be a grind. Israel's biggest variable working against them is time. The more this drags on, the more Western countries get chicken **** about their support.

Hamas knows this and is playing into to that narrative. The west is weak if they cant stomach what's happening.

Wow that second dude is in total denial the attack is happening.

Awesome to see the first soldier stabbed stay in and end the fight. Looks like he tried to shoot him without the rifle in battery, racked a round, then engaged while getting hot brass down his shirt.

He might have been mortally wounded and unable to respond. You can actually see his blood on the mall floor immediately after the stabbing.

My observation was in the delay of his reaction while watching the first guy get stabbed. He never loses hold of his drink until stabbed himself. Looks like he took some to the throat area and my guess is he is the one who sadly died. Both soldiers drop blood but the scumbag does not, at least prior to leaving the frame.

Is Hamas losing it's grip/fracturing?

Quote:

Now, however, these same commanders are cutting around Sinwar to get a deal for some breathing room. That suggests that they are more afraid of the IDF than they are of Sinwar, and more importantly, no longer trust his leadership. That's a recent development, likely forced by the success of the IDF's long-delayed Rafah operation and their ability to cut off all lines of supply at their rear.
The Associated Press raises the question of whether Sinwar's in any position to lead now:
Quote:

Two US officials stated, according to the report, that such divisions do exist within the terror group's leadership and were a factor in Hamas's announcement last week.
AP also noted that the content of the messages indicated that Sinwar either was not communicative with Hamas's leaders in Qatar or was not fully cognizant of the breadth of the fighting in Gaza.
Has Sinwar dropped off the radar, even for Hamas leadership in Qatar? That may well explain why the Doha billionaires dropped the demand for a permanent cease-fire to start any hostage swaps. If Sinwar is out of contact, or dead, then they will be next on the Mossad hit list, and they know it.
Addendum: It looks like the Rafah operation was far more extensive than the IDF let on:
Quote:

Rafah is "unrecognizable," a "ghost town," and a "wasteland," according to recent reports from international media. The Israel Defense Force took foreign journalists to the Philadelphi route along the Egyptian border and also into areas of Rafah for the first time since the operation began in May. The IDF had done a similar trip for Israeli journalists in mid-June.

More at the link, and let's hope so. More on the fresh Gaza City operations.
