Can someone explain to me how a horrific terrorist attack by Palestinian Hamas results in the US calling on the voices of those terrorists being at the center of a post conflict regime?

Can someone explain to me how a horrific terrorist attack by Palestinian Hamas results in the US calling on a post conflict Gaza to not be occupied after the conflict? How else does the population get reprogrammed away from terror and violence a la Germany and Japan in 1945+?

Can someone explain to me how a horrific terrorist attack by Palestinian Hamas results in the US calling for a "unified West Bank and Gaza" when they are not contiguous? What does that even mean?

I guess Hamas achieved their goals.

This drive to the sea will bisect roughly the remaining southern half of Gaza, I believe.

Netanyahu apparently issued a profane statement to the effect that "this isn't Oslo II, the PA cannot return afterward to Gaza."

Quote:

The Israel Defense Forces earlier stated 200 Hamas targets were hit overnight

Overnight, IDF ground and air forces destroyed terrorist infrastructure inside a school in Beit Hanoun where an attack was launched against Israeli soldiers. In the school, forces found 2 tunnel shafts and weapons. Forces also eliminated a terrorist squad and attacked a weapons warehouse where they emerged from. IDF naval forces also attacked terrorist infrastructure in Gaza harbor, including an observation post.
Quote:

The Negev Brigade reportedly destroyed terrorist infrastructure set up within a Beit Hanun-based school where Hamas terrorists launched attacks against IDF soldiers. Within that same school complex, two additional tunnels of the terror organization's extensive network tunnels.

blowing up a lot of tunnels.

although I don't see how effective it is in that soft sand of Gaza to just blow up the entrances, when Hamas will simply redig it out again in three days.

Still takes effort, and those tunnel entrances can be marked and observed for activity. It also denies they access points for attacks. Sure it's whack-a-mole, but overall it's about mapping their tunnel system out, denying access/attack points and drones will be able to track activity on known points.

Maybe to trap them or to flush them out? They probably can't excavate from the tunnel side without power, light and (hopefully) food & water.

One man's closed tunnel entrance is another man's grave.

I suspect they have mapped out some of them and are closing most of the entrances so they can pump seawater into the ones that remain.

Those are some pretty severe explosions that will impact the structural integrity of the tunnel itself. Granted, they don't give a crap about human life and their tunnel rats they will get back down there to start clearing, but that is a pretty serious rebuild that will be required and now they have to do it in the open instead of inside buildings or structures. Easier to monitor.

US Destroyer Shoots Down Drones As Attacks Hit Red Sea Shipping
By AFP - Agence France Presse December 3, 2023

An American destroyer shot down multiple drones on Sunday while assisting commercial ships in the Red Sea that were targeted by attacks from Yemen, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.

Yemen's Iran-backed Huthi rebels -- who said they targeted two of the ships -- launched a series of drones and missiles toward Israel in recent weeks and seized a cargo vessel last month, but the latest attacks mark a significant escalation in the threat to shipping in the area.

"Today, there were four attacks against three separate commercial vessels operating in international waters in the southern Red Sea," CENTCOM said in a statement.

"The Arleigh-Burke Class destroyer USS Carney responded to the distress calls from the ships and provided assistance" and shot down three drones that were heading for the warship during the day, the statement said.

The Carney detected a missile fired from a Huthi-controlled area of Yemen that landed near the Bahamas-flagged M/V Unity Explorer, while the cargo ship later reported minor damage from another missile from a rebel-held area.

Panamanian-flagged M/V Number 9 -- a bulk carrier -- reported damage but no casualties caused by a missile from Yemen, while the M/V Sophie II, which also flies Panama's flag, said it was struck as well but suffered no significant harm.

CENTCOM said the attacks "represent a direct threat to international commerce and maritime security".

If hamas really wanted a permanent cease fire, they shouldn't have been a bunch of animals who butchered 1400 people, including babies and toddlers. They created a situation where there is no logical scenario in which Israel doesn't kill every last one of them and a bunch of other people doing the way, so now they're going to have to deal with it. There is no forgiveness or compromise anymore. I think the fact they're pushing for a cease fire and were willing to exchange hostages signals they know just how committed Israel is and the rest of the Arab world is not.

hamas and the palestinians have done nothing but cause trouble for and disrupt the business of every other arab nation in the ME, and now that they've picked the fight they've always wanted with the expectation that they'll have all of their arab cousins behind them, they don't. Even they seem to know that without Iran or someone else to back them, they can't survive an actual Israeli occupation, both as individuals and an organization, so of course they want a permanent cease fire

Never, ever vote for a Democrat.

Meanwhile, per the IDF:

Quote:

IDF Arabic Spokesperson Avichay Adraee warned on X (formerly Twitter) the commanders of Hamas's Shujaiya Battalion ahead of the IDF's resumed military operations in Gaza, and presented them with two options: surrender, or end up like former battalion commander Wessam Farhat, who was killed yesterday in an Israeli airstrike.
"This is a final announcement, you are all targets. The IDF will act in the area to dismantle Hamas," Adraee wrote.
In addition, he noted that the commanders had two options: "surrender and lay down the weapons," or "deal with a fate similar to that of Wessam Farhat."

Israel does not care what this hag says, they are going to do what they do.

yes, way cheaper. the jet fuel alone....and do they even make a bomb for under 250k that would take that down?

It would take multiple munitions and probably cost a few million including fuel and maintenance of whatever aircraft they use.

Gives them the chance to also go through the building for intel before leveling it.

I wonder if a lot of Palestinians regret attacking Israel and celebrating in the streets, not talking about the "brave" leaders barking bs from other countries but the everyday citizens.

They certainly have more rocks to throw since the IDF got busy.

But buildings, mosques, "hospitals", etc? Not so much...

Doesn't say how. Probably not the phone with a bomb in the receiver like they have done in the past to kill enemies, probably just a regular bomb, but great news !!
