Anybody else starting to think Israel waited too long to start ground operations clearing Hamas out of Gaza?

Seems like public opinion and International pressures are building exponentially against the ground war. Support for eradicating Hamas was greatest shortly after the initial events were disclosed.

I am starting to doubt that Israel will do what they need to do, with the aggressiveness required, anytime soon.

A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week.

Yes. They are losing the initiative and allowing the terrorists to create a narrative. They should have responded quickly, forcefully and violently. Not a good look for Netanyahu

Well, since you're sacrificing your children and clearly have your women put away since they have no rights, don't come crying afterwards for your bad decisions.

No women in the group that I see. No female children, only boys. That's typical. Man's machismo writing checks his wife's and daughters' bodies will have to cash.

Yep. Got them locked up, beating them, you know, typical crap and oppression for them.

Gross seeing the young boys taking part in this.

Disagree. Any time they want to just completely obliterate hamas and their Palestinian supporters I'd be good with.

Hey London, the terrorists are the ones shouting.

Whitehall has the largest mosque in London. LOTS of muslims there. I stayed in a hotel right next door several years ago.

My bad. I got Whitehall and WhiteCHAPEL mixed up...

Watching these videos and various explosion sizes makes me think the IDF conversations are something like this.

Intelligence Asset: Hey guys, terrorist #134,232 spotted in building A.
UAV Pilot: You have a floor or a window detail for me?
Intelligence Asset: Um, gimme a few.
UAV Pilot: Meh, I'll just level the whole building.

What we are seeing seems to be a repeat of the 2008/2009 war. Only this time Israel is not allowing foreign aide and Hamas likely has better weapons (but so does Israel). Lessons learned from that ground assault on both sides should play a big part here.

The big unknown right now that is most concerning is whether or not Hezbollah and fighters coming from Syria are planning to join the fray.

Based on the fact they have not entered the war yet suggests to me this was not some sort of grand plan for the "final battle" Iran had envisioned, otherwise they would have joined on day one when Israeli response was in a bit of chaos.

And if Israel does it right, none of them will ever have to worry about dishonor again.

Not sure they are "backing down." More like covering their a** as they always fight with proxies like Hamas and Hizballah.

He is telling the truth. Lebanon is a hell of a complicated place. The majority of the people do not support Hezbollah and are Sunni or Christian. Hezbollah was allowed to get that powerful because Iran convinced the local Shia population that the Sunnis and Christians were keeping them poor on purpose and manipulated them into joining their cause. Their militia element was supposed to disband and never did, and the Lebanese government in general is not strong enough to reign them in.

Lebanon's shared power structure is supposed to provide equal power among Christians, Sunnis, and Shias but Hezbollah has gained outsized power. Hezbollah is a political party within Lebanon as well as the militia.

The Christian President (the President always has to be a Christian in Lebanon) has traded away a lot of his power to Hezbollah in exchange for money and security of the Christian population. Hezbollah runs Lebanon like the cartels.

It is quite a bit of backing down. They've gone from they will attack if Israel sends in ground forces to they will stay out as long as they are not attacked.

Here is the catch now...how many Iranian fighters are in Lebanon or Syria that will be unleashed? Can they be connected?

There was also situation not that long ago when local leaders tried to reign in Hezbollah and Hezbollah responded by taking over half of Beirut. The Lebanese genuinely have no control over them.

Consistent bombing real close to the feeds. Been going on for awhile. On another note, the LIVEUAMAP feed is reporting 30 Americans killed on the 7th.

Hezbollah is technically a local Lebanese force but we all know they are controlled by the Iranian regime. Hezbollah is and has been the big threat in joining this thing, not Iran itself.

The IRGC and Quds actively work and train with Hezbollah. Not sure if they would directly be involved in the shooting itself or any sort of incursion but they would absolutely be in their bases and helping with C&C.

Hezzbollah holds a significant portion of the elected seats in the Lebanese government. It's not some fringe group operating off the radar. Too bad Lebanon got co-opted in the 70s/80s by a terrorist organization.

I've seen differing reports. Some recent analysis by the Brookings Institute has Hezbollah with around 45,000 soldiers and over 100,000 rockets, some of the newest drones and ballistic missiles Iran has to offer, and also more advanced anti-tank and anti-air stuff than Hamas has. It would be a much more difficult fight for Israel although Hezbollah would have to fight from a bit more in the open than Gaza.

No telling how much of that materiel has been diverted to Ukraine or used up in Syria, and Hezbollah also suffered quite a few casualties in the Syrian conflict. They may not yet be back up to full strength.

Israel has also considered Hezbollah a much bigger threat and likely has a lot more intel on their locations, capabilities, and targets in the event of an outbreak.

It would be a fight that would not go well for either side with a lot of casualties.

Lebanon allocates their seats and offices to groups. By law the Muslims and Christians each have 50% of the legislative seats. Hezbollah with their alliance from other parties has something like 25 seats out of the 128. They don't even get all of the designated 27 Shi'ite votes.

Their political power is derived from the bullying by their strong militia with backing from Iran.

They have less than 25% of support from the overall population.
