I don't understand why everyone keeps trying to turn this around on Netanyahu and Israel. Hamas did the attack on October 7, they're also the ones that won't back down. THEY are the terrorists. Even if Netanyahu and Israel back down, they would still kill more Jews. They would've killed these people too. That was a foregone conclusion.

That was an incredible point that I hadn't thought of. Wars don't end in peace. They end because one side beats the other. Israel is not allowed to beat the Palestinians so this war will never end, just spill over into the next one.
I have been beating that drum for years. Wars end when one side is so badly defeated that they no longer wish to continue fighting. Any cease fire that pauses hostilities before that point is reached is just that, a pause. Wars end with surrenders, not cease fires. The Gaza war will end when Hamas surrenders.A_Gang_Ag_06 said:

Yep. Most wars don't end in a peace agreement. It is usually near total defeat for the losing side, or at least defeat beyond returning to anything near the status quo
Nobody is as deserving of total defeat as Hamas and their enablers.
They've certainly earned that.

You win a war when one side loses. Israel has to ignore the cries for truce and keep on killing Hamas fighters and leaders and anyone who actively sides with them until they give up and relent.
Anything less is a defeat that will result in Hamas rebuilding and rearming for future wars. The U.S. delegation needs to shut the hell up and support our ally in whatever efforts they deem necessary to win. The Israelis are doing more right now to protect American interests than anything the current administration has ever done.

1. Hamas demands Israel leave densely populated areas. If there's one thing we know, Gaza is the most densely populated area in earth. If you're losing a war you started, you don't get to demand from the people you're losing to the when and how they depart.
2. 800 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for 30 women, elderly or sick hostages doesn't seem like a fair trade. And why wait on the other remaining hostages? What's the point of that?

What's crazy is had Israel been allowed to conduct this war in a fashion it deemed appropriate, this would've all probably been over six months ago. Likely with the same or better outcome for the hostages than stringing it along for over a year.
