It is not a secret how many Trident II SLBMs the Ohio class carries. Hell, you can count the number of silo doors on the sub if you can spot on one Google Earth when in port.

It is also not a secret how many warheads a Trident II can carry. The number can vary, but the max number is known and has been long before Trump.

Australia is wanting to buy Virginia Class Attack Subs. Generally Attack Subs do not carry Nukes. Generally the Boomers (Ohio Class ? ? ) carry the Nukes and the Attack Subs carry Torpedo's and Cruise Missiles.

The max number of warheads that a Boomer can carry is available on Wikipedia. I believe that there are 24 missile tubes on a Boomer and the latest version of the Trident Missile can carry X number of warheads. ( Not going to look it up) I doubt that we would sell Australia Nukes anyway.

How close we can actually get to a Russian Sub is probably only speculative plus why bother when your torpedo's have plenty of range. Just get close enough to hit them before they can ready and fire a torpedo back at you.
