Those cruise cars are trash and are terrible compared to the latest tesla beta self driving.

That said, I'd still make it illegal to be driverless, and if you turn it on, you must still be looking at the road with hands on the steering wheel, or it shuts off (stops the car slowly)

This is basically how the Tesla works. If you keep your hands off too long or keep eyes directed away it will shut off autopilot.

I may or may have installed a cheat device on mine to get around it.

He was in his forties and he was driving.

So you are saying diverless cars use another navigation system? I asked previously on this thread for that clarification and to how they navigate. Don't use Google at all?

Yes, they do use a different system. Teslas have many cameras and see the actual road, not just rely on digital mapping. If someone is walking beside you it will show that person on the display. If there's a garbage can left in the street, it will show that garbage can in the street on the display.

Cheat devices for autopilot? You post this like it's an advantage or some kind of positive, but I'm not sure that many will see it that way.

If there's a fire truck with flashing lights in the road, it will show nothing on the display.

More of peak laziness on display.

This, "curb side" pickup for lazy fatasses to even get food to stuff their fat faces, delivery apps, etc.

Peak.
Laziness.

  • I was just pointing out a fact.
  • Then interjecting an assumption based on past history.

Well, they got sued.
I'm sure they're sued often.
How many people have they killed through their negligence?
I'll have to look through my files to find that number and then I'll get back to you. Negligence will never go away. Driverless cars have the chance to significantly reduce it.

All I'm saying…

Electric cars didn't catch on in the 1800s, why would they catch on now?

I don't understand the resistance to these vehicles. They've shown to be safer than human drivers.

Operating in places like downtown San Fran or Austin in the evening seems like a good fit. NYC would be perfect because it's a grid.

The only reason I would ever want a self driving car is basically to fulfill a sexual fantasy of mine. I have always thought it would be pretty cool to bang the wife in a moving vehicle. Could make for a fun date night as long as windows are tinted.

Outside of that, I want control, so no thanks. And I like driving.

I get it. I like driving too but I don't like sitting in traffic or creeping down the highway at 30 mph. That's not driving. These have great potential for the commuting space. Override and drive it yourself when you can actually drive

But isn't traffic flow issue only resolved if virtually all cars on that road are self driving? I could see it being even worse if it ever gets to a 50/50 mix.

The point is car manufacturers that make self driving cars will be sued inevitably for more money than individuals, presumably a lot more, hence the deep pockets reference.

The next point is the Democratic Party leadership continually demonstrates their inherent belief there should be no accountability except for any Conservatives and/or Constitutionalists. Thus the comment about legislation exempting car manufacturers from liability.

Anxiously waiting your response to this post

What if you're an Uber/Lyft driver?

It's a cool technology, interesting to see if it catches on.
Hackers will be a massive threat to this - take control of a car, drive to a dark alleyway, rob/assault passengers
Also, pranksters..i haven't looked into how these things work, but can you, cover Stop signs, or graffiti on them in a way they would get confused?

Or are they going by a completely digital map?
