This story blew up in the press a couple of years ago saying that there were mass graves of Indigenous children at residential Catholic schools.

After two years of searching, no bodies were found. The story was a hoax.

Outside of the meme here that the number is apparently 0, nothing says, "you have complete power over us" quite like that. For the entirety of human history, kill count has been a brag, not shame. In fact, back when natives were an actual threat to the colonies, they themselves were famously brazen about how many settlers they had killed in village raids
