This is a civil suit by the two Georgia poll workers he disparaged. He failed to comply with discovery. After ignoring another Court Order, the Court entered a default judgment, to include punitive damages. Also ordered to pay $134k in their legal fees. There will be a further hearing on damages. I suspect that will be a large verdict which he now cannot fight on factual grounds. And this is a civil suit not subject to any pardon.

Rudy is headed into bankruptcy. And good luck getting a bankruptcy court to discharge punitive damages. Why not comply with discovery? Either Rudy is an idiot or his counsel is.

The workers don't have to have a legit case. Courts will reward those after anyone related to helping Trump.

The legal system in this country has lost credibility.

The decades old sexual assault case against Trump spurred on by George Conway was one of a thousand examples.

Rudy back in 2008 was smarter than them

Rudy in 2021 not so much.

He is bankrupt which is probably why he can't afford lawyers to contest the case.

He is in a world of hurt. plus he has the even worse civil action against him for sexual assault/harassment by one of his former staffers where he is on tape admitting all kinds of things.

Maybe he should have participated in discovery and not stipulated to their allegations then if he had such a legit case. The judge entered a default judgment against him because of that. Now it's just a matter of how much he will owe.

Pretty sure at this point Rudy is fine in hanging with his wealthy buddies until the Grim Reaper comes by.

He also has plenty, plenty of ways to make money.

I feel bad that an American Hero who took down the mob and cleaned up NYC is being persecuted in such a filthy, disgusting abuse of our legal system.

People cheering this on are disgusting. But that is redundant because most are also Biden voters.

Yikes, this jury instruction is going to be damning. That jury is going to murder him. Seriously, what is he thinking? Has he just given up? It's sad, really.

Every thing Trump touches dies.

Hopefully Rudy was cagey enough to squirrel away his money like Alex Jones before giving the finger to the Judge and the discovery process.

It's kind of funny that the two election workers he defamed are going to get to try to collect before Dominion/Smartmatic and whomever else has suits lined up against him.

"A federal judge ruled Wednesday that Rudy Giuliani is legally liable for defaming two Georgia election workers who became the subject of conspiracy theories related to the 2020 election that were amplified by Donald Trump in the final weeks of his presidency.

Giuliani reportedly has significant financial problems already, and this will likely break the bank when damages are decided. And, notably, this underscores the falsity of the "stop the steal" allegation that these two women helped Joe Biden steal the election.

In an unsparing, 57-page ruling, U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell said Giuliani had flagrantly violated her orders to preserve and produce relevant evidence to the election workers, resulting in a "default" judgment against him.

Apparently, Howell had run out of patience with Giuliani over repeated violations of the discovery process.

As a sanction, she entered the default judgment and ordered a trial to determine damages and punitive awards. That could be overturned on appeal, but Federal appellate courts do not view willful process violations too kindly. "

If Giuliani wasn't bankrupt before, he is now...

"frivolous" - Rudy admitted making false statements about the election workers.

. . .
Frivolous and baseless might be a little strong.

Before he defaulted Rudy filed a stipulation acknowledging that his statements were false and were defamatory per se.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/rudy-giuliani-georgia-2020-election-workers-false-statements/

Quote:

Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor who served as an outside lawyer to former President Donald Trump, acknowledged Wednesday that he made false statements when he claimed two Georgia election workers engaged in voter fraud during the 2020 election. Giuliani, who's being sued by the now former election workers for defamation, still argued he was engaging in constitutionally protected speech when he made the allegations.

Giuliani's concession came in a two-page stipulation he submitted to the federal District Court in Washington, D.C., as part of the lawsuit brought by Ruby Freeman and Wandrea "Shaye" Moss, who are mother and daughter. In the filing, the former mayor admitted that for the purposes of the litigation, "to the extent the statements were statements of fact and otherwise actionable, such actionable factual statements were false."

Giuliani also admitted that "he does not dispute for purposes of this litigation, that the statements carry meaning that is defamatory per se," and no longer contests the "factual elements of liability" raised by Freeman and Moss.
. . .
That's not very convenient for the election fraud angle, but since there are about 30 election fraud theories that have all been taken as true, it's not that damaging either. Just pivot, or pretend that the case didn't happen and Rudy didn't say anything.

so Guliani had to disclose his net worth as part of discovery so Ruby Freeman and her daughter's really expensive lawyers can make sure they bankrupt Guiliani for thinking the video of them pulling out cases of mass-mailed ballots and scanning them after the observers were sent home for the night might have been election fraud?

this will surely teach a lesson to all political opponents of the regime that we have fair elections and to not ever dare questioning it, even if you see it on video, or else you will be bankrupted and imprisoned.

Ruby Freeman and her daughters expensive attorney didn't need Giuliani to disclose his net worth in order to prove Guliani's statements were false and defamatory, because Giuliani and his expensive attorneys actually stipulated to the court that they were.

Not exactly. There is a legal term of art, "arguendo", meaning for the sake of argument. That is not an admission in a legal pleading, it is posed as a hypothetical.

You think he fell from grace? You also think Alan Dershowitz fell from grace?

The whole of government approach to attack, defame, imprison and destroy Trump and anyone associated with him is not a fall from grace and people need to wake up and actually realize what is being done to these guys... not unlike much of the collateral damage from #metoo, the damage from BLM, the damage from CRT incl the efforts to doscredit and defame the men (and women) who founded this country.

What a sorry statement to make about Rudy. Cheering this stuff on is blatantly communist and unamerican and those looking for "Rudy to get smacked down" should be ashamed of themselves.

Better hope the legal system is not weaponized against you. But most of you on here do not have the reputation or resources at risk to realize how devastating this stuff can be. Just cheering on Rudy to be bankrupt.

Yes, I definitely think Rudy fell from grace. He was once beloved and respected by millions of Americans.

He has become a sad, broken, delusional man. He lost his family, his fortune, and worst of all his reputation.

It's sad. Not to be celebrated but more of a warning that it can happen. Life is just a series of choices.

It is amazing how far he's fallen. He looks and acts nothing like the man who did so much for New York. But that was seemingly a lifetime before he became involved with Trump, and we're seeing how his own words and actions are going to give him a very different ending to his life and career than the one he would've had had not been so loyal to Trump.

There will likely be TV movies that will make a good amount of money by starting their movie with Rudy getting such high praise from W and becoming America's Mayor, then switching scenes with him serving Trump and showing where that gets him.

A shame, really.

He was recently campaigning with his son and yes he and his oldest daughter are estranged and he has been in multiple relationships - not an unusual thing for a man married to work for 50+ years.

He was Trump's personal attorney and as such his role, despite having political nuances, was not related to Trump's role as POTUS (which makes Rudy more like Sidney Powell and less like Mark Meadows.

Fortune you say...? Well considering he worked in public service for most of his career and then ran unsuccessfully for office for most of the time since then I am not sure what fortune you think he was to have amassed. I mean, we know how the Dems do it, but you are making some huge assumptions.

His reputation still good in my book. His pursuit of Ukraine and Hunter's laptop may prove critical in saving this Country from permanent Dem takeover.

Life is a series of choices, including posting poor takes on Rudy with lack of accurate information.
