After watching that video about Appalachia, I'm gonna say Texas is not the worst state.

Funny…:how exactly do the fastest growing states get on the "worst places to live" list? It's almost like it's a political hit job and not an objective article.

Most of the states they trashed have some of the strongest economic growth rates in the US....by far. Just loser Yankees hatin' on the South.GeorgiAg said:
Florida at number 10 is hilarious too.
Funny how "no state income tax" didn't get filtered into the results

Each category is weighted based on how frequently states use them as a selling point in economic development marketing materials. That way, our study ranks the states based on the attributes they use to sell themselves.

Needs to be plastered everywhere that Texas is so hot, and it's only going to get worse. Need to echo it so far and wide that it drowns out other headlines that show it's summer everywhere else in the US, too.

When you drill down on their rankings, you get the top two most inclusive states as Vermont and Maine.
Vermont: 94% white
Maine: 90.5% white
Texas, ranked #50 in inclusiveness, 39.8% non-Hispanic white

The Lone Star State keeps hacking away at inclusiveness, with laws targeting the LGBTQ+ population, voting rights, and the nation's strictest abortion ban. Yes, there are enormous economic opportunities in Texas, and it is attracting people from far and wide. But this state also has some Texas-sized issues when it comes to life, health and inclusion. And it is one of the reasons that the state fell out of the overall top five for the first time in the 16-year history of CNBC's rankings.
