This is why there are no more small trucks (Hint, it's the government)

Thanks. Sounds like the telephone tax imposed to pay for the Spanish American War and didn't go away until the Clinton Administration.

I guess that would depend on one's definition of small "truck"

Santa Cruz

Ford Maverick

Can't say either of these are inferior to my 1983 S-10

It is sad.
These were so fun.

Brings back memories. For a while, when my sister and I were starting school, that's all my family had was an S10. Family of 4 in a single cab…another reason why we are grateful for everything we have to this day.

My small truck

Oh man, that's a nice looking luv, if you have the diesel version (or carbed gas) then that's even better! Someone I knew swapped the diesel into a 90s era S-10 and got around around 45+ miles per a gallon on those If it's not fuel injected you can swap a gear driven timing system onto it versus the belt that needs to be replaced. Been looking for something like yours forever but the car market is so stupid right now.

Don't forget how beds are getting shorter, and the "gotta go fast" speed demons out here. What I would give to get a 7.5' bed and a 4 cyl inline diesel with no eletronics on it...

A 2011 U.S. free trade agreement with South Korea was supposed to allow light trucks made in that country to be imported to the United States dutyfree starting in 2021, but the Trump administration strongarmed the Koreans into postponing the tariff elimination until 2041. If those tariffs had been allowed to expire last year, the U.S. International Trade Commission estimated in a June 2018 report that an additional 14,000 to 32,000 more light trucks would have been available for sale each year in the domestic U.S. market.

The Trump administration also renegotiated the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement, replacing it with the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The revised agreement tightens the rules of origin to require that 45% of the parts in trucks be made by North American workers who are paid more than $16 an hour. This noMexicansneedapply provision will make it more costly to manufacture pickup trucks in Mexico for dutyfree shipment to the United States.

My first truck was GMC S-15. Not sure how that compares to the S-10 shown. Awesome vehicle, except when it rained…for some reason I would have to get into the distributor cap.

Personally, I love our three Canyoneros. However, I recall there being a lot more small trucks around when I was in college and they seemed like great vehicles for a lot of applications. Good first time cars for high school and college kids. Good for certain types of trades too.

Have a 2006 double cab Tundra for a xtra work/get around truck. Last year of the 1st gens. It's a great sized 1/2 ton truck. My favorite size they ever made. I bet she will run forever.
