There have been at least four premieres already, I saw it Monday, and they had clips from the Rome, UK, and Abu Dhabi premieres, and the NYC premiere was also Monday (I saw it down the street)
Good movie.
This is good for the country. Hopefully the strike will last through the end of the century. Take out the trash.

But once again, Disney is facing yet another headwind. Iger has said he is looking to sell ABC and FX as they are not "the core of Disney." A prolonged strike? What becomes of the value?
To fill the gap in content, Disney+ should go ahead and get season 4 of Bluey loaded up.

You'd think good writers could make more money not being in a union and a good writer would not ever need to go on strike since production companies would be throwing truckloads at them. This strike tells me most writers are terrible at their jobs. I don't need to mention the horrible quality of most things that come out of Hollywood.

yes, the studio can make movies without the unions, but members of those unions will not work with the studio in solidarity.
so use a non-union writer... actors refuse to work on project, same with directors, teamsters refuse to work in the background, etc.
the unions effectively prevent projects from moving forward.
it is a racket.

There are not. Most are hacks. And part of that is because they write from they know. Had a deadbeat Dad? Han Solo and Luke Skywalker are now deadbeat Dads, and so on and so forth.
That's why when I see a series that has excellent writing, such as a Six Feet Under, Dexter, Billions, Breaking Bad and the like, they are captivating, engrossing.

They will do some deal that will resolve it - but going forward, slowly overtime, AI will chip away till few are left. Not sure on that timeline.

Apparently they weren't paying attention to Robert Iger today. Basically said linear channels are dying and wants to off load Disney's. Doesn't directly connect to streaming, but a lot of folks work for those channels.

to be nothing. People learned they can do without the theater experience during the covid nonsense and now they're just giving another reason to not come back.

each guild has their own contracts with the studios.
all 3 were set to expire within months of each other. that is why the actors are striking now when the writers started 2 monts ago.
the diurector's guild got a contract they liked a few weeks ago, hence why they are not on strike as well.

SAG-AFTRA news and broadcast members will not be on strike, as member reporters, anchors. hosts and producers work under individual station or network contracts, not the TV and theatrical agreement. One of the craziest aspects of this negotiation revolves around AI use of actors. Basically, part of the studios' offer said that background actors could only be hired contingent upon them agreeing to do a AI scan. That scan could then replicate the actors and be used by the studios for eternity, lol.
Nobody is going to agree to that crap, Union or not.

As little sympathy as I have for modern actors, this seems like a legit issue.
