I can see why banning ghost books would trigger you.

They weren't talking about these books. They should still be banned.

True. Can't have kids reading the N word.

The LGBTQ books are the most banned but others like The Bible and other more reasonable books have been banned as well.
The books aren't banned.

They are just not available for certain levels of schoolchildren while they are in the schools.

They can still go find those books and read them if they wanted to do so...

Pretty sure I can't find those at my kids elementary school
TKAM was not in our kid's Junior High Library. We asked that they be loaned the book from the high school library, and they were.
Yeah, the woke crowd don't like it.
Why would the woke crowd not like TKAM?

And it was not in our local Jr. High library due to adult content and themes.

We felt like our kids could handle it.
Typically all 3 of those books above are HS reading level...I think HF can get down to 8th grade, but probably better to read it in HS to better understand it.

It may have just been that simple (coupled with book budgets)...

That happened to my youngest in 3rd grade. We decided he needed to go to a school that had differentiated curriculum so we put him into a school that has differentiated curriculum. That made all the difference in the world for his love of learning.

Maybe it's too advanced for a 1st grader? I didn't read these books until I was out of elementary school.
