Here's what he actually said:Quote:
Teams believe it is too early to tell what time the implosion took place, with sonar buoys not detecting any kind of implosion after the search began - suggesting it likely occurred prior to search teams entering the area.
Yep that was my take away. The question from the reporter was asking if the response time played a part in the result of the rescue mission and implosion. His answer was basically saying they didn't hear anything because it happened before they started listening.

Pretty much everything I need to put this story to bed.
We have dissected "why" this happen over the last couple days. Nothing put out will shock me anymore.
Well, the only thing I want to know more about is the delay on Ocean Gate's part from the distress signal to the next day
So you can imagine how instant it was at their level!TexasRebel said:AgsOnDeck said:they’re saying implosion for the titan submersible & all i can think of is that episode of mythbusters where they built a body and sent it underwater & let it get decompressed pic.twitter.com/JUDUnZ9nn7

That was at 300 ft.

This story will almost certainly get the Hollywood treatment at some point. Doubt they try to recreate the implosion, probably fade to end credits as the sub sinks its final time.
It will be interesting to see what angle they take. Obviously they're going to have to address the lack of concern for safety, but I bet they ignore the DEI/ESG/woke aspects of the company. Happy to be proven wrong if they include the CEO's disdain for old white guys who know stuff.
Good movie, especially in the original German with subtitles.BQ78 said:

Any thoughts on the premise of the rapid heating? I know it would heat instantly, like one tweeter pointed out, it would be like being inside the cylinder of a diesel engine. Seems plausible if there is enough pressure differential.

it will be interesting to see if the Titanium cap failed or the joint / bonding material connecting it to the carbon fiber hull failed

I'm guessing we'll never know, but wonder what the contents of the "distress call" were? "Goodbye"? "We've got a problem"? Something specific i.e. "we're experiencing x and are going to head back up"?

Reading a WSJ article where a previous passenger said to tilt the sub down everyone crowded to the front. To tilt it up they crowded to the back.
