The response to "we shouldn't include that scene" should be f*** off! I think I would buy a ticket just so I could get up and walk out.

Quote:

One exchange which has had to come out is the discussion between People's Front of Judea members Stan (played by Idle) and Reg (Cleese). Stan says that he wants to be known as Loretta and to have babies. 'It's every man's right to have babies if you want them,' says Stan. Reg counters: 'But you can't have babies.' At which Stan responds: 'Don't you oppress me.'

Cleese told an audience at his one-man show last week that when the scene (co-written with the late Graham Chapman) was performed at a read-through for the new show in New York last year, doubts emerged. 'At the end, I said to the American actors: 'What do you think?' And they said: 'We love the script, but you can't do that stuff about Loretta nowadays.'

'So here you have something there's never been a complaint about in 40 years, that I've heard of, and now all of a sudden we can't do it because it'll offend people. What is one supposed to make of that? But I think there were a lot of things that were actually, in some strange way, predictive of what was actually going to happen later.'
So conservatives are accused of banning books for trying to keep overtly sexual content out of grade school libraries while these same accusers insist you can't ridicule the idea of men having babies.

The irony of this is that apparently now the play offends both the right AND the left. Its definitely a heretical play as it mocks the crucifixion and a few other things. Thought I have to admit there are some comical parts like the parting of the stream.
False equivalency.

Conservatives might have complained but those parts still exist, and are still performed.
Liberals are eliminating anything that offends their ever changing cultural race to the bottom.
Well yes and no on the false equivalency. Conservatives choose not to see it if it offends them, the left try to just have it shut down. My point was both have issues with it, though it surprises me the left have now found a reason. I would have thought atheists would love it.

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best
And
Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life
If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle, that's the thing
And
Always look on the bright side of life
(Come on)
Always look on the right side of life
For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow
Forget about your sin
Give the audience a grin
Enjoy it, it's your last chance anyhow
So always look on the bright side of death
A just before you draw your terminal breath
Life's a piece of ****
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughin' as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you
And
Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the right side of life
(C'mon Brian, cheer up)
Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the bright side of life
I mean, what have you got to lose?
You know, you come from nothing
You're going back to nothing
What have you lost? Nothing
Always look on the right side of life
Nothing will come from nothing, ya know what they say
Cheer up ya old bugga c'mon give us a grin (Always look on the right side of life)
There ya are, see
It's the end of the film
Incidentally this record's available in the foyer (Always look on the right side of life)
Some of us got to live as well, you know
(Always look on the right side of life)
Who do you think pays for all this rubbish
(Always look on the right side of life)
They're not gonna make their money back, you know
I told them, I said to him, Bernie, I said they'll never make their money back
(Always look on the right side of life)

"Life of Brian" was HIGHLY offensive to Christians when it came out in 1979. There was a big uproar. And nobody gave a crap. They played it everywhere.

As a Christian with a sense of humor, It is actually one of my favorite movies of all time. I love British humor.

So, why the F is anyone getting worked up over the "Loretta" part now? Really?

Because there's a select group of people (picked by Leftists) that are allowed to be offended and Christians is one of them. Interestingly, the same group of leftists gets to choose the list of people that are never allowed to be offended.

Well……..you're in luck. Cleese is working on a sequel to Fawlty Towers.

It was picked as the best British TV show ever in a ranking done a few years ago. I personally thought it was one of the best shows I have ever seen.
Unfortunately, I discovered that Manuel is deceased. I was wondering how he was going to be portrayed in the new series....

His wife on the show, actress Prunela Scales, has dementia.

I read they were going to kill her off in episode one and Basil is going to find his illegitimate daughter, born from a liaison with a hotel guest. Beyond that, I have no idea. Not even sure it will be set at the B&B.

Nor do I know if he remains on good terms with his real life ex-wife, who played the maid, Polly.

Just hope it's anywhere near as funny as the original
