Rural America is traditional America. Big cities are hives for the progressive left. They hate traditional America and want to change it.
Except there are not enough people left in "rural America" to decide the outcome of any presidential election.

The elections are won or lost in the small to midsized towns/cities, and in the suburbs.
Small town and mid size towns make up rural America especially the ones that are not connected to interstate highway.

Trump is curb stomping Desantis in these areas, well, really in all areas per the polls.

I love the irony that Trump literally spent weeks going after DeSantis for wearing Cowboy Boots yet he is the savior of Rural Americans. The disconnect just baffles me.

Yep. I'm still amazed at my neighbors that still support and NYC billionaire over the son of an electrician
Yet here we are, double digit lead over Ron. All but over.

Why is that?

Because people are terrible decision makers. That's not exactly a revolutionary thought. People vote for idiots all the time.

Quote:

With less than 50 days until the Iowa caucuses, former President Donald Trump's campaign is making a major weekly six-figure advertisement buy in the Hawkeye State -- marking one of the first times the campaign will go up on broadcast TV as the early GOP front-runner takes a big step in seeking to fend off his rivals.

In a preview of the two ads set to air in Iowa, first shared with ABC News, the campaign plans to attack President Joe Biden in one and tout Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds' past praise of Trump in another.
Weird he would want to highlight the words of the "most unpopular governor" in the US.

It's actually not that unusual. It's not a great look but campaign shakeups and moves like this happen. Obviously a PAC has to technically operate independent of the campaign but there are going to be disagreements on strategy and spend and people get fired or quit.

here's a big win for DeSantis.

Quote:

In a big blow to Democrat electoral hopes, an appeals court has reversed a prior ruling finding that the governor's congressional map, which changed Florida's District 5 from a 200-mile-long racial gerrymander to something that makes sense proportionally. Democrats sued, claiming that the more consolidated district violated legal provisions on minority representation. The First District Court of Appeals in Florida has officially disagreed, upholding the originally-passed map. While this decision could end up in front of the Supreme Court, it's highly unlikely, given the political makeup of the court, that they would disagree with the appeals court's decision.

Elections are won in the suburbs, specifically currently in the Atlanta, Philly, Milwaukee and Phoenix suburbs. Those people hate Trump, mostly because they are typically highly educated and [smart enough to recognize that he's an unserious clown.

Rural America has unfortunately been tricked into thinking a lifelong democrat New York billionaire who has never worked hard a day in his life is on their side, but they'll hopefully figure it out eventually.

A lot of this can be traced back to Peck's poor management at the start of the DeSantis overspending on a national race/staff instead of keeping it a lean operation initially focused on the early states. That forced DeSantis to be more closely involved with Never Back Down as invited guests, so the superPAC's attack ads was seen as hurting DeSantis's favorables since they're so closely involved.
I do think this model that Uthmeier is proposing is interesting, Never Back Down for traditional GOTV efforts and Fight Right to broadcast attack ads. Tim Scott folks are moving over to Fight Right which should tell you what they think of Haley. I haven't seen where the Pence folks are going.

1) Another legal victory for DeSantis, proving once again that when he goes to battle he wins the fights. Make no mistake, its not luck that he ends up on the winning side of the battles the vast majority of the time. Yet more proof that he is ready to take on the top office in the land, whether some want to admit it or not.

2) I'm trying to remember if Trump's staffs, campaign or in-office, ever had abnormal turnover. Someone please remind me.

15 Trump Voters in 2016 Who Voted Biden in 2020

Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election by winning back independent voters that voted for Trump in 2016.

In some key swing states, the margin of victory for Biden was small, by just a few thousand, but nonetheless, they went with Trump in 2016 and Biden in 2020. Common perception now is that, given the choice between Trump and Biden in 2024, swing voters will go for Biden again.

Republican voters don't want to acknowledge that but it very well may prove to be true. Once lost, it is very difficult for politicians to get voters back. In Trump's case, it is mostly self-inflicted. He continues to talk about the 2020 election being stolen and that is something independent voters have moved on from. Voters look forward, not backwards. They are ready for him to move on but he seems incapable of doing so.

The Washington Post conducted a small focus group consisting of 15 swing voters who all voted for Trump in 2016 and for Biden in 2020.

None want a Trump-Biden re-match.

Most do not want Biden to run again but despite that fact, they will choose Biden over Trump if that is the choice.

They all said that Biden is too old and feeble to do the job. They all described themselves as concerned and worried about facing a re-match. Some even claim to be panicked by the possibility. Of the fifteen, only three said they would go back to Trump and vote for him
81,000,000 votes for Biden, took weeks to count 'em.

Trump received more votes than any sitting president and still lost by 7 million votes. We all agree these are legitimate voters else we are cowards for not stopping a steal. Something about good men doing nothing…

Since 2020, +8,000,000 new voters have crossed our borders. Is the Republican Party done?

Independents don't like Desanris, has nothing to do with Trump. He sucks as a candidate and his policies are the same as Trump, he traveled to every county in Iowa just like BETO did in Texas against Ted. The results will be the same. Dude has no sense of awareness.

Trump, I don't like how he is being railroaded in the courts by the left. I haven't listen to one of his speeches in years but if I vote, it will be for Trump.

Delusional to think he has a snowball chance in hell. All he is doing now is draining resources from the Trump campaign.

Tell us how the 2016 Colorado Caucus turned out?

Trump was ahead in all the polls, but Cruz won almost all the delegates.
Donnie whined and cried that it was all unfair, but he simply didn't understand the process.

Similarly, Trump whiffs on getting things dome sometimes in governance such as draining the swamp and getting the wall built.

DeSantis knows how to get things done.

You can think they are idiots all you want, you still need their votes and they won't vote for a clown like Trump, especially once Biden drops out and the Dems put Newsom in.

Not sure how he's somehow entitled to those resources before he wins the primary, but I'm sure the party would hate to miss out on paying his campaign for more brilliant, policy focused campaign videos like this:

Not sure I agree that his political career is over…but I do think his presidential run was 4 years too early…

I do agree that there's a chance he winds up 3rd in the primaries…the only candidate surging right now is Haley…

DeSantis is a good man, and his ideas very much align with my political stances…he just isn't viable for 2024 with Trump in play…

I think DeSantis will win Iowa because he knows the process and has the ground game.

Trump will whine again and dismiss it as only Iowa.

The last real poll in Iowa was Oct 30. No one knows what is going on in Iowa. Strange that they are polling like crazy but not polling in the place that matters the most and certainly not trying to really do a good poll of likely Caucus goers. Wonder why?

That's not true…the last real poll in Iowa was Nov 10-15, sponsored by Iowa State, and polling "likely voters"…

It shows Trump +36…

Granted, it is 3 weeks old, but if you watch the trends, there just hasn't been a ton of movement in Iowa the past few months beyond Nikki Haley…

Haley is the only one in polling averages that seems to be picking up steam relative to Trump…she has really closed the gap on DeSantis…

1. DeSantis won Florida by a wider margin than Trump.
2. Trump's clown show will be long gone by 2028 so this will be a fun bump when DeSantis wins that nomination thanks to the grownups being in charge of the party again.

If you actually believe nearly half of Black males in the US would vote for Trump I'm not really sure what to tell you. You can choose to believe random reports and videos (from Newsmax of all places) or you can look at what actually happened last time he was on the ballot.

Ah yes, it always comes back to mythical unproven cheating allegations since Trumpers can't accept their hero is a complete joke to the majority of America. I'd probably blame cheating if my candidate lost to a vegetable too, but don't worry, I'm sure the kraken is coming any day now.

Des Moines Register has always been the best poll in Iowa but even they are usually off by several points. Enthusiasm and organization matter there more than just about anywhere.

Today will be interesting. Both DeSantis and Trump have big events in Iowa and Iowa is playing in the B1G Championship. Interested to see how they go. If Trump is more than doubling up DeSantis we should certainly see it.
