Back in 1988, I was working at a plant in Grand Prairie, TX. Lloyd Bentsen came to visit during the campaign and give a talk at the end. He began by telling all of us how happy he was to be in Grand Rapids.

Now, this is a plant with a LOT of union members and in 1988 there was still a strong Democrat presence in the state. But, EVERYONE busted out laughing and many were openly mocking the comment.

I can understand that he'd been traveling all over the country running for office (VP candidate) but the dude was from TEXAS. He shouldn't get THAT wrong...

Have any thoughts on Trump having no idea what country Orban is in charge of or not knowing what city he's in? Or just any defense for any of his recent idiotic mistakes? Basic geography knowledge seems important to being president, maybe not to everyone though.

When was the last time a former President was in a primary like this? The name recognition (and rabid core following) will be basically impossible to overcome this early. As has been said over and over on this thread, if DeSantis (or another challenger) can win in Iowa and/or NH, things could change rapidly.

This upcoming debate will be huge for DeSantis. He needs to make headlines coming out of it. He hasn't been attacked much during debates so hard to make the headlines like Vivek and Haley. He needs to knock Haley out.

He can win Iowa. Christie needs to drop before New Hampshire because Christie is strong there with the anti-Trump vote. Then by South Carolina both Scott and Haley drop and give their endorsement to DeSantis. That's the path to victory. Not easy.
