Apparently DeSantis raised over $1 million in the 24 hours after announcing his fundraising number and another $500k at an event in Boston a couple of days ago. Crowds are growing and Sununu looks like he is very close to endorsing. Yet Trump's campaign is saying it is already over for DeSantis as Trump is having to prop up his fundraising numbers by transferring money around and his crowds are getting smaller and smaller in the few events he is doing.

It just doesn't add up and it makes less and less sense. Trump candidates got crushed in a special election in Tennessee yesterday as well.

I keep looking for signs that the polls really are true and Trump is running away with it but outside of polls and talking heads it's just not there.

This is part of the ground game. DeSantis makes himself very accessible, he hits a ton of events, and he gets a ton of local coverage. This stuff doesn't get big coverage on Twitter or in the national media but in small states like Iowa and NH it matters. It also matters that DeSantis is glued to Sununu and Reynolds who are very popular there.

We will see if it pays off.

Trump's strategy is trying to jump on both sides of every battle so that he can take the credit and blame others. It's not subtle but somehow a lot of folks can't see it. It's amazing.

Then of course you have stuff like this. Kelly has done some great work on Court reporting for Jan 6 and the Whitmer trials but the blind loyalty and way that they simply accept that Trump not only has a different set of rules than everyone else, those rules must be respected by everyone else.

What else can be said. A significant portion of MAGA (rightly) is skeptical or outright hateful of the COVID vax. Yet Trump, in their minds, had no part in it. When it's convenient, he was unable because of the deep-state, but when he's back, he'll clean up the deep state.

That's actually better quality than a lot of the stuff out there among the Trump folks. Just look at some of the comments.

There is no talk of issues or governance, it's all low brow insults and memes and then folks like Julie Kelly clutching pearls that DeSantis made a mild joke about Trump needing a teleprompter. It's all part of the plan where they play both sides of every issue. It works so long as the Media lets them but that ends the moment he has the nomination secured. My favorite part is how they use MSNBC clips to bag on DeSantis while saying DeSantis is using Dem talking points against Trump.

Agreed. Trump voters don't really care about wining the election. At this point they're just voting for him out of spite and to rub it in the eye of the "anti-Trump people" (especially DeSantis supporters.
