I hate the misrepresentation of the Fair Tax. Trump is by far not the first to mischaracterize it as "They want to charge you a 23% sales tax!", but it's such a standard leftist politician BS move.

ETA: This is the kind of thing that if Trump was TRULY going to "drain the swamp", he'd be looking for similar things to support. You can't change the "Swamp" without a major structural change, like cutting the control of the tax code.

You realize not allowing travelers into the country is different from locking down the country. Or, maybe you don't.

Trump is literally crowing about how he locked the country down while he brags on Cuomo... yet here you are pretending he doesn't mean it? Doesn't know what he's saying?
Again, TDS must affect one's ability to read. Trump has never bragged, or claimed he locked the country down. In fact, he said specifically he did NOT lock the country down.
Really? Here is him not only bragging about it but saying that only he had the authority to do it.

Yea but obviously he didn't mean what he said with his own words. And the award he gave Fauci was just a joke. /CryLaugh etc etc.
Hmmm. Snippets taken about Trump saying his closing down the border was the right thing to do. Remember, how he was called racist to close the border? Yes. Closing down the border was the right thing to do.

States actually closed schools, businesses, etc. Trump closed the border.

Have to agree (for once) with SD on this one. This was during the very early panic time and Trump meant shutting down travel to the US.

Having said that, his COVID response at the beginning was forgivable (just like RD who has apologized). His failure to let it go is the issue. To this day he defends it, and the vaccine. He gave Birx and Fauci a medal on his way out the door.

This suggests he is not above doing the same thing again.

What about these words?

Quote:

"I told the governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, that I disagree strongly with his decision to open certain facilities," Trump said at a White House coronavirus task force press briefing, doling out praise for "strong, resolute" Georgia residents

Or these words

Quote:

Despite reports to the contrary, Sweden is paying heavily for its decision not to lock down. . . . The United States made the correct decision!

I know reading is hard, but nowhere there did his words that you posted say he shut down the US. He shut down travel to the US, starting with China.

He RECOMMENDED lockdowns. States forced the lockdowns.

And your last one has nothing to do with shutting down the country. It has to do with warp speed.

Correct. He was clearly pro lockdown, glad you agree. Evidence now even more backed up by his apparent support of Cuomo's strategy of locking 6 year olds out of school while the rest of the country was back to normal. I'm sure next week we'll hear from trump about how great Newsom's lockdowns were.

The problem with a guy like Trump is he has no message control. He took credit for the lockdowns and then he said he was the only one who could make that decision. There are additional videos with him and Fauci where Fauci talks about how Trump did what he told him to to close it down.

Now you can say that he should or shouldn't have done it but in the end he owns it. It was his call and he wanted credit for making that call. Thus he gets the responsibility. He was the President and he was the one who listened to Fauci and didn't get other experts. He is the one who decried Sweden for not closing and went after Kemp and later DeSantis for re-opening too quickly.

I'm fine with forgiving Trump as it was a difficult time but in the end he is supposed to be a leader and leaders take responsibility. He doesn't and that means he is very likely to make the same mistakes over and over again like he has on so many issues. I'll take the guy that actually does what he says and not only took responsibility for the mistakes of lockdowns early on he reversed course dramatically and he publicly apologized to the people that were harmed by those lockdowns.

Can't wait for your next laugh/cry response.

Duh. Every state in the union locked down their states.

From the actual article that was quoted above
ABC News
Quote:

Even as he pushed for governors to reopen their states, President Donald Trump on Wednesday criticized the Republican governor of Georgia for his decision to allow several different businesses to reopen Friday amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.

"I told the governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, that I disagree strongly with his decision to open certain facilities which are in violation of the phase one guidelines for the incredible people of Georgia -- they're incredible people," he said at Wednesday's White House briefing.
He was pushing other states to open up just a month into the process. He was not for infinite lockdowns for every state. Even DeSantis locked down his state.

Everyone was for lockdowns.

The TDS induced claim was that Trump somehow disregarded the Constitution and locked down the US. I know it's fun to move the goal posts, but Trump never locked down the US.

Actually South Dakota never locked down because the SD Leg wouldn't go for it. Trump tried to claim both sides of the issue and flipped back and forth. His messaging was confused and he showed his main concern was not getting blamed and trying to find any way he could get credit. Sorry it triggers you so much that he stood up and made the claims he did but he did.

Had he stood up to Fauci and the Dems and the MSM the world would have been a very different place but he got himself in a hole and kept digging. In the end he walked right into their trap and lost everything anyway which is what usually happens when you are primarily concerned with saving your own ass instead of leading.

So it turns out the whole "leaked audio" from the DeSantis meeting with donors was a Trump plant who came in and asked a question that DeSantis should "moderate" after the primaries and was immediately shut down. Trump team ran with it of course but DeSantis identified the leaker and exposed the lie. DeSantis team doesn't leak so it is very easy for them to find any leaks.

Everyone was for lockdowns for the first couple of weeks in April. Then actual leaders like DeSantis and Kemp realized they were pointless and started planning their way out of them (while getting called grandma murderers, etc by the media) while Trump continued to hide behind Fauci and Birx. And now we're getting more proof that he agreed with his fellow liberals that lockdowns were somehow a good strategy, so it's a good thing that pesky constitution would have stopped him anyways.

Like I said, I'm sure Newsom praise is coming next and I'm sure you'll find some way to crylaugh your way through justifying it.

Actually what Trump did was worse. He acted as though he couldn't re-open because Fauci told him so. He would complain about businesses not opening and restrictions but he acted like he was powerless. For instance he could have lifted any mandate in relation to anything Federal or on a Plane had he decided to. He had created the monster and was too scared (by his own admission) to fire him or to even lower his profile. He feared the backlash. While that's understandable that isn't what a leader does.

I can forgive Trump for it but ultimately in the biggest test of his Presidency he failed to step up and bet on the wrong horse.

Yep, the real story is how little he raised from his announcement and then indictment. The cash just isn't coming in unless it is coming in quiet and I can't imagine that's the case since Trump folks on Twitter would be bragging about any news like that. We will see, I really don't think so.
He burned through $3.6M in Q1 - which would have been a huge burn rate if not for the indictment fundraising.

The Emperor really has no clothes- and people are starting to see it.

"Wow, has it really only been a little more than two-and-a-half years since I enthusiastically voted for Donald Trump for president?

There's a guy named Donald Trump running for the 2024 Republican nomination, but he bears little resemblance to the Donald Trump I liked back in the day. For example, he does things like insist that Andrew Cuomo's COVID response was better than that of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. That would be the same Andrew Cuomo whose response sentenced New York's elderly to death en masse.

Trump must have also forgotten that the Democrat advocates in the mainstream media spent much of 2020 holding up Cuomo as an example of how to handle the pandemic while deriding virtually everything he did.

I don't want to get too deep into the weeds about all that Trump's been doing that perplexes me because I'm going to be recording a video discussing some of it as soon as I am done writing this. The video was already on my schedule for this evening, but then I saw the latest Truth Social post.

That's an actual press release from the campaign. I first saw it on Twitter and thought it might be a Photoshop by some hater, so I checked my work email, and sure enough, there was the release.

What Trump is trying to accomplish here is beyond me. Yeah, it fires up the people who ARE ALREADY GOING TO VOTE FOR HIM, but it's not making a case to anyone who might be on the fence. The United States of America is teetering on the brink and Trump's vision for saving it at this point, anyway is a fourth-grade playground taunt. A rather nonsensical one at that.

Truth Social is a big part of the problem with this new Trump. What he babbles over there should wither there. Now the voice in his brain is telling him that the babbling should become press releases. He's dealing with an audience on Truth Social one of the dumbest names for a social media platform in history that's going to love whatever he says. It's reminiscent of someone who wants to try stand-up comedy but has only ever been funny for his friends. Nine times out of ten, whenever a person like that hits an open mic night for the first time, the jokes that crack up his friends die an immediate and hideous death.

Again, this isn't the Trump I like. And I'm not one of those pinkie-extended Republicans who have sensibilities that are easily offended. I wrote in January that I would love to see Trump get another term and go scorched earth on the Swamp.

Rambling about the pronunciation of DeSantis's name makes it seem like he went to the Kamala Harris Academy of Public Speaking. The "DeSanctimonious" thing is really pathetic. That's a joke that only the open mic-er's friends are laughing at. When he first started saying it, I said it didn't have any of the sharpness of the kinds of derogatory nicknames he came up with off the cuff in 2016 and 2020. It sounds more like something that branding executives workshopped for focus groups for six months and whiffed on anyway, like "The Cleveland Guardians."

I know that this will annoy a lot of the faithful, but I don't care. Again, he's got my vote if he's the nominee. I'd prefer not to have to keep addressing incoherent nonsense like this, however. And to all of the "Thou Shalt Not Criticize Trump!" people out there, I'll just say this: at some point you have to admit that, while the emperor may still be wearing some of his new clothes, he's begun to disrobe during the procession."

Trump's Truth Social Ramblings Are like Kamala Harris Now

This is NOT just some Truth Social incoherent insanity.

This was put out IN AN OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE OF THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN.
