He knows that. That's why he wears the dark makeup. I heard he does he own makeup and hair.

Trump is really old. Literally no one is looking for an 80 year old to hire as a new CEO at a fortune 500 company and yet we wind up with them running for POTUS - and a segment of the voters pretending, "this is fine"

notice how the Trumpists are suddenly fine with what would be an 82 year old Trump as the President-

but were crying about how a 77 year old Biden was too old back in 2020!!

let's not leave out the brilliance of electing someone who can ONLY SERVE ONE TERM and then we have to put another candidate so they are a lame duck on day one of their Presidency.

brilliant strategy!!

I know he's Trump's son and everything, but man Don Jr has really clowned himself with his anti-DeSantis posting. It all looks even more ridiculous when you know that he moved to Florida specifically for it being way more free and open than NY.

Listen to his last sentence....

Quote:

Unless it gets close (meaning the polls), why would anyone debate?

He's telling us right now that he's going to skip the debates. When the debates roll around Trump is going to commision a poll which will conveniently find him up by 30 points and he'll use that one phony poll as his excuse to skip the debates.

All of you lingering Trump fans, how does it feel knowing you back a man who's too scared to debate? What type of "Proven Warrior" tucks tail and hides?

Trump is out golfing and hanging out in Mar a Lago while DeSantis is doing 4 events a day and multiple interviews. Fast forward that a month or two and Trump is going to be in trouble. Trump is going to have to campaign and work for it because DeSantis has the money and energy to go all day every day for the next year.

I don't really care about whether he pardons them or not. If he isn't going to pardon them though, I would appreciate arresting the people who actually let the mob into the capital, who incited the crowd in the first place, etc. and yes, go after left leaning organizations that have done the same thing.

This took guts by DeSantis and it is a significant olive branch to Trump supporters. He even said he would pardon Trump. It makes it harder to demonize the guy when he is making those promises as they try to make him into some RINO (lol).

I would like to compare this to one of Trump's statements on Jan 6. Does anyone have a link to statement Trump made addressing the J6 prisoners?

Lots of Trump folks in the media and on Twitter putting up early statements by DeSantis where he supported Lockdowns and other actions. What they aren't talking about is how he changed course. What they really aren't talking about is how he did things like this that I can't recall ever seeing a politician do. It takes a real leader to admit a mistake and apologize to people and make it right.

A couple of thoughts here.

First, he could be investigating the cases of Florida residents caught up in Jan 6th prosecutions now. Some are being held in Florida awaiting trial.

Second, he could also say he will fire all of the corrupt US Attorneys in DC and surrounding areas as would be in his power to do so, not to mention Garland, if he hasn't already resigned by then.

Third, he could also say that he would strongly encourage the House to investigate the federal district court judges who are presiding over these cases for possible impeachment proceedings. These judges have pontificated purely political reasons for handing down such stiff sentences and dismiss every defendant's 1st amendment rights as piffle and not worthy of concern to these judges.

I would imagine all of that is on the table but he will keep it more vague during the campaign as to how he will do it. DeSantis' style is to research the hell out of the legal options and then act without allowing his opponent to know what is coming. He doesn't like his enemies to be able to prepare.

First I have heard that! Who is being held? For sure something DeSantis should speak out on.

As to impeaching judge, giving out sentences within the sentencing guidelines isn't going to be considered impeachable by many, if any, on the Hill. And federal judges pontificating? Sounds like a normal day of the week! The humble were few and far between!

I'd say DeSantis is laid it out fairly clearly how he intends to proceed.

Review the cases, if prosecution was politically motivated or if BLM etc. not prosecuted for doing the same thing, then pardon comes into play.

DeSantis continues to impress.

How Ron DeSantis will spend $200 Million to Win the Nomination and Presidency

"The New York Times published an in-depth look at the DeSantis campaign plan to win the GOP nomination.

We already knew that DeSantis had close to $100 million left in the bank after his 2022 gubernatorial landslide, and that his allies had perhaps as much or more in their PAC coffers. Not only does that kind of funding offer a huge head start over most of the field (except for Donald Trump), it allows for a wide choice of strategies.

According to the NYT report, DeSantis and his team plan to go grassroots. But do they plan to go granular?

A key political group supporting Ron DeSantis's presidential run is preparing a $100 million voter-outreach push so big it plans to knock on the door of every possible DeSantis voter at least four times in New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina and five times in the kickoff Iowa caucuses.

The effort is part of an on-the-ground organizing operation that intends to hire more than 2,600 field organizers by Labor Day, an extraordinary number of people for even the best-funded campaigns. …

The group is already taking on many tasks often reserved for the campaign itself: securing endorsements in early primary states, sending mailers, organizing on campuses, running television ads, raising small donations for the campaign in an escrow account and working behind the scenes to build crowds for the governor's events.

Hiring is underway in 18 states and officials said plans were in the works to assemble various pro-DeSantis coalitions, such as for voters who are veterans or those focused on issues like abortion, guns or agriculture.

"No one has ever contemplated the scale of this organization or operation, let alone done it," said Chris Jankowski, the group's chief executive. "This has just never even been dreamed up."

Trump never did adopt that kind of granular approach to campaigning. He preferred sticking with his core talent for big rallies, which provided a stark contrast to Biden's basement campaign but not enough to win that way either, not even with the RLI running in parallel to it.

That brings us to DeSantis and the Never Back Down plan. It is unprecedented for a Republican presidential candidate to build and launch this kind of organization, and it will have enormous potential. The question will be what DeSantis and his team plans to do with it. If it's just door knocking and passing campaign materials around to voters, well, that's going to help, but as we saw in 2020, it may not be enough."

Ron DeSantis is going to beat the democrats at their own game...

the same people who complained about "typical politicians" over the last 6 years.

now one day they are pro-life ("look how Trump created the Supreme Court!!")-

the next day when Trump switches to a pro-abortion stance it becomes "DeSantis is too strict on a 6 week abortion ban"!!

I think what aggie93 means is that Desantis wouldn't just issue a nondescript pardon backed up by his opinion only. Desantis will issue the pardon with a full list of legally sound bullet-proof justifications that will not only point out the political hypocrisy of the indictments but leave no room for the Dems to argue against without highlighting their hypocrisy.

Trump on the other hand doesn't care about any of that because he believes that president is equavilent to king and he should be able to issue edicts that can't be questioned.

That's a big difference between the two and why IMO Desantis will win the primary. He'll be proactive and thinking two steps ahead while Trump will be in reactionary mode still trying to play the bully role that got him the nomination in 2016.

I agree with you about the differences in the two men. But here, DeSantis has set out what he plans to do. That is not always possible on "policy" issue, so I don't ever fault candidates for not getting in the weeds on detailed specifics.

I don't think we disagree on anything we have posted here, but have to comment on this:

The pardon itself is legally sound and bullet proof. There is no appeal or right to contest.

The Democrats are going to argue against it regardless of who much justification Ron DeSantis give, Donald Trump gives, or even Jesus Christ himself would give!

I get what you're saying and know the pardon is legally sound. Technically does he have to give a legal argument for it? No. And because of that Trump wouldn't. He'd say that the legal reason is because he's Emperor, errr President. What I'm saying is that I imagine Desantis would give some sort of actual legal justification so that he couldn't be accused of issuing the pardon based solely on bias.

Over 150 Former Trump Appointees Now Back DeSantis

"We are a large and growing number of Trump political appointees who believe Florida Governor Ron DeSantis should be the next Republican nominee and President of the United States. Serving in the White House and across the federal government, we worked tirelessly to implement a meaningful policy agenda, to do battle with Deep State bureaucrats, and to make sure the public knew the truthirrespective of constant media distortions.

On the Republican side, we face a two-candidate race: Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis.

Our conservative convictions, experience in federal service, and love of country lead us today to one, sure conclusionRon DeSantis is the man for this moment."

Watching the trump team attack DeSantis on Twitter is a train wreck.

At the end of the day it's so needless. Why come out with such unhinged attacks on a fellow conservative? It's crazy.

It's probably more like no level-headed person would join the Trump campaign. What's left is nothing but grifters and kooks who will say or do anything. Reminiscent of the Trump legal team after the election.
