This is the constant narrative in Iowa and key primary states. In sum, thank you @realDonaldTrump but it is time to turn the page to next generational leader. #ChooseWell2024 https://t.co/0z6FBNgv9o

Quote:
Speaking of Trump's policies, his mishandling of the coronavirus pandemic must be addressed. During the crisis, Trump ceded charge of the country to Debbie Birx and Anthony Fauci, and the results were disastrous. Entire states were locked down, and hundreds of thousands of small businesses went under.
When states like Georgia decided to reopen, Trump harshly attacked them. Through Trump's Operation Warp Speed, thousands of people were forced out of their jobs for refusing to accept an experimental vaccine, and some of those who did take the vaccine suffered side effects. At no point has Trump ever owned up to his responsibility in this assault on the American way. To this day, he insists that he saved millions of lives through his handling of the pandemic. Trump has even gone so far as to host a rally with an heir of Johnson & Johnson on the same day regulators all but banished the company's COVID vaccine from the market due to blood clotting issues.
Unfortunately, this is not out of character for Trump, as he holds and has held several liberal positions. Trump supported banning bump stocks, never passed a balanced budget, and has attacked states for passing heartbeat legislation, which bans abortion when a fetal heartbeat can be detected.

What's so great about this is that while it's a lie about what DeSantis said, it manages to completely prove his point. https://t.co/GATi01jVU7

Asked @GovChrisSununu if he’s going to endorse a candidate soon:
— Kit Maher (@KitMaherCNN) August 19, 2023
“I imagine I won’t endorse someone until about November, December. I want to see where they’re at on the debate stage.”
What he’s looking for at the debate:

Not really unexpected this far out with an incumbent with 100% name recognition, although Vivek being that low is good news assuming he eventually becomes Trump's VP.
Don't really expect much to change until the rest of the non-Trump options start to drop out.
Polls churned out right after the latest indictment so of course Trump gets a boost.FireAg said:
Trump continues to increase the gap between himself and DeSantis in the national polling averages (both RCP and 538)...
The only guy "not named Trump" showing any positive gains contains continues to be Ramaswamy...
It will be interesting to see if DeSantis can gain any traction at all after the debate on Wednesday...
Not sure I follow...TRM said:
Well, the majority of voters don't want Trump, so I'd say it's hurting him from consolidating support.
Scott's voters aren't going to Trump. His voter's are looking for a positive Christian. Vivek's sure.
each day that goes by makes it less and less likely that anyone else jumps into the race.nortex97 said:
I still expect some communist obama-judge backed (il-)legal shenanigans to be used to keep Trump off the ballot in a few key states, thus shaking it up and pushing more folks to RDS as we head into the new year. Vivek and Scott might have a shot, but I think momentum will move more to one challenger vs. multiple as the field narrows due to financing still.
I also think Youngkin and some of the others that have tried to be cute about getting in are just going to stay out.
Hmmm...from an average polling standpoint, I am not seeing that same gap closure...TRM said:
1) The gap has closed by 7 points in IA the past month, so the trend is in the right direction.
2) A third of Trump's support is open to changing their mind, so that small 2nd choice majority is in danger. Big difference between 52% to 34%. Remember before the indictments, Trump was polling in the low 30s.
I think that is a true statement...LMCane said:
If DeSantis can break into the 30s in Iowa, that will put a huge amount of pressure on Trump to actually debate.
