Technically these ships are not US flagged btw, this one is from Panama, the other from the Marshall Islands. I can see how there is an argument we stay out of it but Iran is going to continue to provoke until there is a response, it's how they roll.

If you're talking about the government of whatever this country is, they do not represent us and are actually at war with us. Are you not aware that Biden is perfectly happy that Iran is doing the dirty work for him?

Umm, how did he respond in 2019 when 4 tankers were attacked by Iran? Granted the USS Bainbridge was tasked with rescuing one of the crews. So that is a positive.

I'd be surprised if obama/kerry and company aren't still talking with Iran to get a nuclear deal done so they can get their full payment from a few years ago. Biden is not going to interfere with whatever obama is doing.

That's only a piece of it. Who owns the cargo? Also, just because a vessel is flagged by one Flag State doesn't mean the owner is from that country as well.

Where a ship is flagged generally has little to nothing to do with who owns it and everythign to do with either tax or political reasons.

I agree, however we seem to have no response so far which means this is going to escalate. It would be really nice if we had a remotely competent Admin that at least had some type of plan for dealing with this and made it clear what was and what was not acceptable. I know, that's just a dream with the idiot in charge.

The oil in the first was purchased by Chevron. Don't know about this one. But, both were destined for the US market, which Iran just stole, so there's that. As for flagging ships, none are flagged US anymore (mostly), because of flagging for convenience thing (look it up), so that's a silly argument against getting pooned on the world stage.

Are these occurrences in Iranian waters or international? We supposedly are THE major force in guaranteeing international trade and open seas. State sponsored piracy in international waters is not something we should tolerate.
