DeSantis is one hell of a candidate. I can't wait for the announcement.
So, since the Lincoln Project was formed FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE TO HURT TRUMP, does that mean we should consider voting for Trump?Quote:
Anybody the Lincoln Project is against is probably somebody you should consider voting for. Much like Jim Cramer and Paul Krugman, they are pretty much wrong on every issue they take a side.
Not since they are on the same side as trump attacking Desantis right now. They are basically the equivalent of the Concerned ModeratesTM on Texags that are always telling us how conservative they are, but how they just can't seem to find a way to support whoever is the leading candidate on the Republican side. They weren't formed to attack Trump, they were formed to convince independents and moderate Rs to vote democrat. Trump just happened to be the first target.Science Denier said:So, since the Lincoln Project was formed FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE TO HURT TRUMP, does that mean we should consider voting for Trump?Quote:

In the end which side are you picking in this. DeSantis is fighting and winning against the Groomers and you are either for it or against it. DeSantis is willing to do whatever he has to in order to win that fight. It's sad Trump would rather try and get a cheap political talking point on DeSantis rather than stand up to these folks. That's fine though, he has picked his side.Science Denier said:So, since the Lincoln Project was formed FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE TO HURT TRUMP, does that mean we should consider voting for Trump?Quote:

For an entire year, the corporate media lied, smeared, and attacked Ron DeSantis for fighting to protect children’s innocence.

Interesting take on Fox this morning regarding the potential for Youngkin and Noem to toss their hats in the race, along with Tim Scott and even Christ Christie.
The comment was whether folks like Noem and Youngkin see weakness in DeSantis and think they can do better.
I think its very premature to think this is a 2-horse race this early in the game.
You mean the lawyers that committed securities fraud during the Reedy Creek bond offerings? Because the guy that did that is the decades long General Counsel for WDW.blacksox said:
Messing with the Mouse is a poor political decision. America is about business and Disney knows business. And has the lawyers to back it up. I'm enjoying watching this blow up in meatball Ron's face.
And if Disney had been fighting DeSantis against him imposing vaccine mandates, you would be cheering for DeSantis.blacksox said:

All they will do is ensure Trump wins the primary with only his base (same thing happened in 2016) and then gets crushed, along with Republicans down ballot, in the general.

Good point. Let's have the Dems put Trump in the SuperMax and ask all other candidates to stand down so DeSantis can be anointed as next POTUS.
I know candidates toss their hat in for money and political leverage when they have no true shot at getting the nomination. But strange things happen.
I say we go ahead and have the primaries and see who gets the most delegates for the R nomination.

And DeSantis and friends are making not so veiled threats at Disney to shutdown Monorail and Skyliner transportation anytime they wish for as long as they wish for "inspection'.
The tit for tat is bad for both parties. But potentially worse for DeSantis. MSM is not going to get all jones up over the Uyghurs (see NBA). However, showing a bunch of big folks sweating in July Orlando heat waiting on busses because someone is playing games with the monorail… well, that's just right up their alley for sensationalizing things.
I still support DeSantis trying to get this worked out rather than dragging it out.

Is Desantis from NJ??
What did DeSantis do to attack the monorail? I can't say I remember what was actually done.fka ftc said:TRM said:

Taking on the monorail has nothing to do with RCID. That was a direct attack on WDW itself, and a line I think he was ill advised to cross.
Disney did a lot more than a TV ad and came directly after DeSantis during the runup to an election. When a company goes directly after a politician during election season to try to get him thrown out of office, it is absurd to think that he won't respond in kind. Disney picked a fight on an issue where they had no skin in the game. Remember, this wasn't a law that affected Disney's gay cast members. It was just a law saying that teachers were not to discuss sexual topics (including alternate gender identities) with kids younger than 3rd grade. That had nothing to do with Disney and Disney decided to use it as an excuse to throw their weight at trying to get rid of DeSantis.Science Denier said:OK, warning. Serious post.Quote:

I will always take the side of freedom. My dad was military, and when I was young he said he was figting for free speech. Back then, flag burning was a thing and caused tempers to fly. He told me he fought for the right to do that. He was a lifelong democrat, but I finally convinced him to ditch that worthless group. He actually ended up donating money to both Trump and Ted Cruz.
I screamed loudly when Obama decided to weaponize the government and had his goons target conservatives with his IRS because they had a different political belief.
I screamed loudly when Biden went after parents expressing their free speech rights at school board meetings and all the BS he's done to weaponize the government against the people he's supposed to serve.
And, I don't like DeSantis throwing the weight of the government at Disney for a TV ad. Disney's grooming bull**** has cost them alot of money, and hope it costs them alot more.
For the record, there are alot of things I don't like that Trump does either.
Your obsession with the Monorail is kind of weird. It's all in the same theme as the rest of the regulations that is making Disney operate the same way as any other company. They still have some special privileges but they are subject to oversight. The Monorail has also been something that is a sore point for a lot of folks because it should have outside inspectors like any other transportation.fka ftc said:
After 50 years and a couple of accidents that led to extensive safety improvements. Sure seems like the situation required intervention from FDOT to ensure Disney maintains safe transportation for their paying guests. Makes sense. Not political at all.

Where do you think I claimed that? I think the LP tweet attack on DeSantis is just what they do. They attack whoever the republican frontrunner is and try to make him look unattractive in the hopes that moderates and independents won't vote for them. They had staffers holding torches show up pretending to be Glenn Youngkin supporters. Their co-founder was run off after it came out that he had a long track record of sexually harassing young men. I think they are a natural ally for Disney given their shared interested in grooming. The fact that they are on the same side as Trump in attacking DeSantis is just an indication that Trump is wrong too, but LP is pretty much always on the wrong side.Science Denier said:So, anyone that thinks particular move by DeSantis was pretty dumb is the same as the Lincoln Project?Quote:

Unless i"m mistaken, it's the only monorail in the state. Doesn't FDOT have the ability to inspect passenger trains like Brightline in the state? If so, it just brings monorail in line with the rest of passenger train with regards to safety inspections.Quote:
