The old 'vote of no confidence'. That'll show 'em.

I wonder if the students could be polled for their confidence in the faculty there?

You mean a public university? Lol.

If you want this sort of censorship then public universities aren't for you. Check out BYU, Liberty, etc for your brand of politics/beliefs.

I know many of you are quick to abandon freedoms when you don't agree with a group, but you are being a hypocrite.

There seems to be a problem with freedom around here. If you allow other groups to use the public university facilities, and this group has met whatever registration, school dues, etc. then you have to let them perform.

There's literally a thread on the first page right now where some lib is trolling with the "what's wrong with drag shows" deal. And the overwhelming response is "no one is trying to ban drag shows there just shouldn't be children there".

So as long as there's no children there this would be a great opportunity for the freedom proponents around here to put their money where their mouth is.

To be clear. Drag shows are disturbing, disgusting, and frankly for the mentally ill. Children should not be allowed to attend them. Adults should be allowed to host and attend them, especially at public universities.

Now of this was West Texas A&M School of the Virgin Mary or John Wesley then ban and / or prohibit away till your hearts content at your private university.

Sounds like you all on right need to have a little meeting, because if you read this thread and the one you're referencing there's plenty on your side of the spectrum looking to ban drag shows AND more in one notable example, like gay people in total.

Sorry man I don't support those things at all. I'm doing my best to point out the hypocrisy where it exists on the right and the left.

Freedom isn't supposed to be always comfortable. In order for you to do the **** you like to do, even if it makes others uncomfortable, you need to support the other sides right to do **** that makes you uncomfortable too.

This isn't stripping. It's more inline with burlesque. And I don't think a public university would ban a burlesque show.

Now. If your point is that you think burlesque shows should also be banned from a public university then at least you're coming from a position of moral equivalency.

When a dude dressed as a women sits in the lap of a student, they just demonstrated the same qualities as a strip club.

You're talking about minors which is a different issue, not relevant to this thread or the event in question as it's 18+. Extra points for "quoting" something with no source to give appearance it happened and is real.

I'd say a strip show requires nudity which would be inappropriate in public (existing laws on books for that), but if you think physical contact is a strip show then there's all manner of strip shows occurring in your world. What about any sort of thrusting movement, like you'd see in a strip club AND many drill team performances. Every stadium in Texas is a big strip club on Friday nights I guess by your logic? Now that's not a commentary I'd make, but let's really follow your logic through to any and all groups which may be strippers and make sure we make them all illegal. Right? Maybe next we can tackle bare shoulders.

Why not let the drag show happen, but allow a group of students to disrupt it, attack the performers and then release a statement offering support for the students who attack? You know, like the countless examples of what the left does at public schools.

Because it was being sponsored by a student group. It should be allowed according to university policy and state law. That's why the university has been sued.

It's one thing being concerned and upset when minors are involved. I get that. When being concerned or upset about what adults are doing, and no minors are involved, not so much.

According to one of the other drag show threads on here; these are ok amongst consenting adults. Aren't people in college consenting adults?

Fwiw, I agree they do not belong in primary or secondary schools or during reading hour at the local library.

Why do people think drag shows NEED to be on a college campus?

Public educational venues should be held to a higher standard than a bar due to the kids in school there.

There are 16-20 year olds on every college campus that LEGALLY should not be exposed to that.

And, yes I would say the same thing if it were an X rated movie shown on campus, or any other event that requires event goers to be 21.

Yes, I realize there are concerts held at campuses and they are not all educational, but they
should also be held to the same standard.

If they want to do stuff that is sexual in nature, then it is not allowed on campus or at a public facility.

Do you think you can a woman can strap on a giant dildo and leave it hanging out and go visit a public library, courthouse, DMV, etc without being asked to leave or the cops called?
