I'm looking for a new job. Filled out my first, of what will likely be many, applications last night. I pretty much cringe at having to answer the white male diversity questions. Makes me feel like I won't even get a look.
Tell them you're black, a lesbian, and in a wheelchair. When you show up for the interview as a white guy, tell them that you identify as those things and if they don't hire you, you'll cancel them.
That's always a cute thing to say online.
I'm still waiting for a single example of it actually working
Welcome to the Internet, it's OK to be sarcastic here.
I know this is a joke, but now I'm actually kinda curious how this would play out. If you show up to the interview and the interviewer acts surprised that you're a white male, wouldn't almost anything that comes out of their mouth expressing said surprise be against the law?
"Oh, I thought you were a black woman."
"Why did you think that? I was assured during the application process that the demographic info I provided was for data collection purposes only and wasn't tied to my application." Or even better "Of course I'm not, but I assumed you wouldn't select me for an interview if I told you I was white, and based on your reaction, it looks like I was right."
yeah it would make for a great social experiment. Or even just say you must have clicked the button wrong, but you know they'll judge you based on your qualifications, not your race, since that's illegal.
