Can anyone tell me 1) who is paying for this activity and 2) if this activity will be beneficial to the taxpayers of Florida?
Part of Disneys corporate governance rights was the ability to value their properties at whatever they wanted for property tax purposes. So, you do the math.
The real value is in what settlement this produces. Bob Iger and Ron DeSantis don't actually want a government oversight board issuing accountability edicts to the house of mouse. They will settle on something. If DeSantis gets Iger to abandon its woke culture, which is what I think the goal is, Florida will benefit immensely from untold new traffic to Disney.
Anecdotally, I spent $7500 or more at Disney in 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018, but haven't been back since. The minute Iger announces an end to woke Disney, I am booking a $10,000 trip. I'm not alone.
