Remember when the Feds brought up placing undercover agents in mosques after 9/11? The ought-cry echoed off the hills and the Left bellyached a blue streak b/c Muslims and muh racism.

I think that's what the FBI was saying. They know there's an element of the super online radical traditionalist RETVRN goobers who have taken up the banner of what they imagine traditional Catholicism to be. The FBI thought it would be worthwhile to make contacts at mainstream Catholic churches and ask them if any twitchy 4chan weirdos have come through talking about being blackpilled and wanting to start a new crusade to kill heretics or whatever. I don't think they were basing this on the idea that Catholic churches are hotbeds of violent extremism, they're actually counting on the fact that a violent extremist who starts coming around a Catholic church is going to stand out and raise concerns.

• Use sources to find someone they think they can radicalize, usually a frustrated or mentally unstable young man.
• Target him with radicalization materials.
• Get target to begin interacting with fake radicals (FBI agents).
• Radicalize him.
• Get him to be a true believer.
• Give him materials to build a bomb and help him plan an attack.
• Arrest him before he can detonate it.
• Claim they foiled a terrorist attack.

The Biden/Pelosi regime only attacks Whites, particularly Christian males, and also POCs who try to be White by supporting conservative / R agendas.

So the minority Catholics you mention will be safe from FBI as long as the stay on plantation and keep picking cotton for the Big Guy.

It is without question that progressivism is anti-Christian and progressives have demonstrated they will do anything in their attacks against their enemies. Lying is as easy for a progressive as breathing is for the rest of us.

It is very easy to believe that false accusations would be levelled at priests just as it is easy to believe that the FBI will create 'radicals' where there is none.

I am not denying that there have been pedo priests, and maybe there are even more than the average in other institutions like teaching. But, you seem to accept that there is a 'large number' based on what exactly? Large compared to what? Do you even consider false accusations?

It's just spying on political foes. Like how the commies behind the Iron Curtain used to listen in on phone calls and try to catch dissenters. Our government is doing the same thing with much better technology and many more resources.

Not sure this is the case. Immigrants have long held that the Democrat Party looks more favorably upon them. This was certainly true of Irish and Italian immigrants, most of whom were Catholic.

Truth is, the FBI used to be largely made up of the sons of Irish Catholic immigrants.

As a practicing Catholic (and conservative Republican) I am curious to know how it would be received if the FBI was monitoring Methodists, Lutherans or Baptists. Or, for that matter, Jews and Muslims. Bet the press would react differently, particularly in the case of our Muslim brothers.

The "memo" has since been retracted and the head of the FBI is being called in by congress to him to explain it.

The press hates any Christian denomination. They would be outraged if Muslims were in the crosshairs.

On the last day of the deadline (25th), having stalled as long as possible, the FBI did produce a 'less redacted' version of the memo to Jim Jordan's committee in the House, and begged him not to release anything to the public:
