I am going to assume that the people of Chicago have decided that they want their city to join the ranks of once great cities as Detroit, Newark and Baltimore in the bowels of urban hell. This is utter madness but they are doing this and they are doing this to themselves. Fools.
Were Baltimore and Newark ever really great?

Corporate and residential tenants have been deserting Chicago, in particular the Magnificent Mile, for quite a while now. If they continue to elect mayors who don't support the police, and DAs who won't prosecute crime, there's no reason to believe that won't continue. Who wants to be a target for crime??
No cops, so fewer guns, and fewer racist killings.mjschiller said:

You're talking about small and mid-sized businesses, something these people don't even measure. The large corporate folks are still there and will stay. They're the ones donating and all the ones city hall gives a rip about. Most have their own security.
The state of Illinois as a whole didn't lose any population between 2010 and 2020 for whatever reason. Either no one is leaving, people are moving in, or there is a higher birth to death rate (or a combination). Your guess is as good as mine as to why.

Yep, we made two great trips up there in 2015 and 2017 for the bleachers and first base line. Great fun, food, sites. Glad we got it done before it gets as bad as Escape From New York. No reason to ever go back, even to the rare safe spots.Detmersdislocatedshoulder said:

But honestly, isn't this the story of most deep-blue cities, or states like CA and NY?will25u said:

More "no-go" areas for five-0, too. So, black on black crime will skyrocket. I guess THOSE black lives don't matter.

I have a good friend who was born in raised in Chicago, multi-generational. A few years ago he simply couldn't take it any more, what had become of his beloved city and couldn't stand to have his family there any longer.rocky the dog said:
