What pesticides are alleged to still be on them after they have already broken down to safe levels or have been washed at the processor?

Glyphosate (aka round up) for one of the worst, but all of them are major endocrine disrupters. I understand why we use them but even in small amounts these cause issues. You should never drink tap water that has not been filtered for this reason as well.

I am pretty undisciplined about washing fruits and vegetables, yet this is not a problem I have.

If I knew what all was used in every single crop production, I'd tell you. But alas, I don't. The list of allowable pesticides is, unlike your johnson, long and distinguished and anybody that thinks they know them all is either a mensa level genius or a liar. Probably the latter.

However, the fact that there are pesticide allowable tolerances through the FDA, USDA and EPA acknowledge that there are residuals, and the second link below gives some numbers if you are so inclined to read. I was surprised that there were detectable levels of pesticides in a higher percentage of domestically produced food than imported.

Frankly, I don't care much or think much about pesticides. Which is why I made the comment I did about them that you didn't read. But look at it from a pretty common sense perspective - you go to Whataburger to grab a patty melt, large fries and a diet coke (because that diet coke makes all the difference in being a fatty or not, different subject though). Right after you order the whiskey from last night kicks in and you get a serious case of the bubble guts, so you go lay some cable on the throne.

Do you wash your hands? I mean, you are about to chow down on food that your poo laden hands will be all over. Of course you wash your hands, because that is just the smart, prudent and civilized thing to do. Especially before you finger your patty melt with grilled japs and fries and shove it into your pie hole.

Same concept with veggies and fruits here - we aren't talking about submerging in hand sanitizer or running them through an inert gas chamber with a UV light to positively destroy any and all bacteria or what not, but knocking the big stuff off is quick and easy and pretty sure even 3rd world countries rinse their veggies and fruits off for the most part. And if may also knock down any pesticide residuals that may or may not be present. The solution to pollution is dilution and all that jazz.

And if you buy anything labeled "organic", best to give it a good wash because of what is allowed to be used on "organic" crops. Lots of poo and a surprising number of evil chemicals in organic farming. But it says organic! So the whole foods tree hugger shoppers don't care really about details and buy it anyway.

Two possible reasons:

1) Because many are predominantly renters, so when they purchase a SFH they don't have a super who did it for em.

2) Smoking tends to set off alarms. Removing the battery and living "dangerously" is no big deal to them.

I used to have a cast iron stomach. But, then my 50s hit...it's more light aluminum now...
