Sad part is, they're all too small minded to understand that this isn't about Trump and paying hush money to a porn star, this is about the corruption and politicization of our justice department. It's about one sided justice that has gotten completely out of hand and attacking political opponents. The part about DeSantis comments that bothered me, wasn't him taking a shot at Trump, it was his "Rove" like comment that this was just noise and not a concern of his. This should concern ever conservative or even middle leaning Americans.

Trump certainly made that harder when he supported McDaniel over Dhillon for RNC Chair but fortunately DeSantis has a good chance to overcome it anyway. No question DeSantis will get more Suburban votes though and his comments today just made that more likely.

The thing that amazes me is that Trump supporters don't want to actually look at facts or policy. They don't want to talk about how many monster mistakes Trump made. They want to ignore all the personal failings. They don't want to talk about how he cozied up with every RINO imaginable and got played by them. They don't want to talk about how he clearly cut a deal with Lindsay Graham for his support likely to avoid a primary challenger. They certainly don't want to talk about how stupid it was for him to scream "PROTEST!" as his first reaction to his potential arrest. Nor do they want to talk about how lame it is he is essentially calling DeSantis a gay pedophile when no one even remotely considers that possibility.

Of course they know that dream isn't likely so instead they are saying everything is lost and we should just give up because the Democrats cheat and we can't stop them. The thing is we can and there are folks like DeSantis who already have in places like Florida and Youngkin in Virginia and Kemp in Georgia but that would mean giving up on the dream. He has to be CONTINUOUSLY outside the state AND under no circumstances shall the time be extended more than 5 years. Since they didn't charge him while he was POTUS, any alleged immunity then wouldn't apply. I also doubt it is in the statute, which means there's no legal bases for it.

Although I haven't researched it, I'd also guess case law will show that such a toll wouldn't apply in a case like this where the underlying allegation is so vague, the defendant had no idea that it could possibly be considered a crime. In other words, the intent of such a tolling period for being out of state is to avoid prosecution. Since Trump LIVES in Florida, and since he had no effective notice of any investigation (at least of this -- it WAS his taxes; what happened to that??), not being in NY is irrelevant.
