The federal government should stay out of the time change. It should be a state issue.

Southern states likely would benefit from permanent DST.

Keeping time changes likely would work better for northern states.

In either case, individual states should decide the time change issues, not the federal government.

It technically is. Hawaii and AZ don't observe it...

I THINK I saw during our last discussion about this that if a state wants to stick with one permanently, it has to be the crappy standard one. If that's the case, no thanks!

I would like permanent time year-round because I don't like having to change my watches and clocks twice a year.

I have never understood why we don't just make the EASY solution here.

There are NOT just two choices.

Split the difference, move it half an hour between standard and daylight time. DONE.

There are many timezones that operate on half hour or even quarter hour boundaries. And computers/calendars now make all these adjustments or you phone adjusts when you land somewhere.

I currently deal with a support organization in Bangalore India. They are +11.5 hours from my time. It's no big deal. And why are they +5.5 UTC???? Because the country spans +5 and +6 and they split the difference. LOGICAL.

Australia has states on :00 and :30 and :45 boundaries and they can deal with it.

I think the one thing that will keep 3-4 months of standard time is the safety aspect of kids walking to school in the full on dark

Not a bad idea. I really don't care which side wins, I just want to stop changing my clock twice a year.

Interstate commerce concerns makes this a federal responsibility. The decision could be let states do something within a given set of parameters, but overall the feds should have control over this

You probably like cold showers, pineapple on pizza and Pepsi also.

Prob thinks Shipleys doesn't serve "real kolaches" too.
Shipley's does not serve kolaches.Shipley's serves Hijacked Pigs in Blanket which is an urbanized stuffed roll. Yummy, sinful and body building food; but not a kolache.

God meant for the sun to be directly overhead at noon. That's literally what the word "noon" means.

So go back to local times and set the clocks for noon when the sun is overhead. Standard time was foisted on us by the railroads anyway.

Lighten Up Francis, it's ok to be wrong. In real authentic Texas it is a Koliche, In urban pretend we are in Texas land it is a hijacked Pig in a Blanket. In Lubbock, a Koloche is a hot dog in a Wonder Bread slice.

And then there are songs about Kolches.

-----------

Just in case this is mis understood, just having fun staff. Unless staff thinks a Pig in a Blanket is a koloche, then I am doomed.

It's a running joke on the Houston board....any time you have someone asking for best breakfast kolaches nearby, you seem to always have at least one of these guys step in to correct everyone and advise them that a real kolache is actually an Eastern European pastry (which everyone knows) and not what is sold at Shipley's or any Donut shop in Texas....and we all have a laugh at their expense.

There is actually a highly offensive slur that I am almost scared to type here but hoping staff takes it easy on me..."kolache-dork".
