Based on the excerpts in the OP it looks like this bill excludes most employers or industries that would actively have a drug testing program anyway.

So the end result of this bill is nothing.
Liberals excel at pushing solutions to problems that don't really exist and creating unforeseen consequences for everyone but the demographic group they were pandering votes from.

I looked it up and marijuana is legal in Washington, so this isn't a problem.

All you libertarians who want this to pass - shouldn't businesses decide if they want to hire pot users? Do you want people to be high who are driving forklifts in warehouse stores in the same spaces you are shopping? Do you want them driving delivery vehicles, installing large items in your homes?

Yes, it's legal in many states, but most states still allow businesses to decide if they want to hire users of the mind-altering product.
Does this apply to alcohol, too?

If the employer wants it to extend to alcohol it should. The employer should be able to not hire someone for any reason.

I don't totally disagree.

Although I also do hold the view that what people do on their own time isn't much business of an employer as long as it's legal.

I manage my own business and personally do not pry into the private lives of my employees unless it spills over into work.

But I wanted to ask every applicant if they drink and not hire them based on that, it should be my prerogative.

The point is that the employer should be king, the government has no role there other than maybe worker safety issues and even then I'm torn on that issue.

I am for straight robber baron capitalism.
