5 Thoughts: Texas A&M 96, Kentucky 85

A&M connected 13 times from 3-point range and shot 46.4 percent from behind the arc as the Aggies got the guard play they needed to defeat Kentucky on Tuesday night, 96-85. With the victory, the Maroon & White now have 10 SEC wins and are close to locking up an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Ten wins down. One game to go.

With their backs against the wall, losing six of their last eight games, the Aggies responded with an emphatic 11-point Quadrant 1 home win over a projected top-seven NCAA Tournament seed in Kentucky. For the opponent, timing, and what it means for their postseason hopes, this is easily the biggest win of Bucky McMillan’s Year 1 campaign.

With that said, here are my thoughts on Tuesday’s win:

1. The 27-3 run was peak Bucky Ball.
