Well, maybe later, since it's 1:10, still waiting for some drugs to kick in I am sure.

I am sure somehow this involves sending a few billion more to Ukraine, thanking China, and then blaming Trump.

Update, he's live. Slurring, tracked 3 unidentified objects, blah blah, "at their recommendation I gave the order to take down…"

Blah blah, allowed us to take them down safely. Our intelligence committee is still assessing all 3 objects. Don't know exactly what they were, nothing suggests related to China or surveillance from any other country. Most likely private companies, recreation, or scientific research."

(So, it was just pico balloons.). Partially because we have increased our radars, err, narrowed our radars.

We will establish a better inventory of unmanned objects in our airspace.

Second, we will, talk.

Third, we will update regulations for detecting.

Fourth, sec. Of state will work to establish a global 'mont' in this space.

That's my job as commander in chief. Since I came to office, we have developed an ability to track these high tech surveillance balloons from china. I ordered it shot down as soon as possible, and the military told me it was too dangerous, so we tracked it closely to learn it's capabilities, and waited until it was safely over the Atlantic because I am a ****ing moron, excuse me, we sent a clear message this was unacceptable. 6 firms who support the People's republic liberation army, excuse me, people's liberation aerospace program.

Vanilla ice cream is my favorite. Go eagles. I look forward to the Super Bowl tomorrow. President Obama and I will keep our allies and congress informed of what we learn, and uh, I expect to grovel to President Xi to apologize sometime for shooting his balloon down. Thank you.

Someone got to him with a question getting the standard, "C'mon man! Give me a break." before he walked out.

so he is admitting we shot down recreation balloons over the United States

but the week before we couldn't shoot down a KNOWN CHINESE SPY AIRSHIP over the United States because of "safety concerns"

I'm guessing no one in the Pravda Moscow media asked about the situation above?

First they were too hesitant to take action, and then once that narrative had developed, they then became too rash in any follow on events and didn't seem to even try to verify the nature and origin of other objects before blasting them.

At least they are now talking about developing a coherent policy.

Did he really say the bold? So we suddenly developed this ability after social media kept asking WTH was happening?
nortex97
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Yeah, he really did say words very close to that exactly. Claiming he directed the military to work to improve tracking/detecting these when he came into office, and that's how this was done.

I took it to be an inadvertent revelation of a kernel of truth. I think he did direct more domestic surveillance (not actually of Chinese balloons but of Americans). Big tech was so committed to domestic surveillance and censorship on behalf of the Democratic-CCP party, that they had to make sure something like Elon's purchase of twitter wouldn't supplant the tools used to wrest Trump from office etc.

WTH does "pico" mean? I had to look at about 50 webpages just to find out what I already knew - pico means 10^-12. So, things that are on the pico scale are small. I get it. But a typical bond in a chemical is about 1 angstrom, or 10^-10 meters. So, pico makes zero sense is the context of a balloon. The balloons aren't 1/100th the length of a carbon-hydrogen bond.

Ex AF guy said on Levin, it should have been shot down by C130 guns, as the way it was done was difficult and overkill.

"PICO means "small" and is used to differentiate a segment of ballooning that is not associated with high altitude or weather balloons"

Was the AF guy an MP or logistics? Because he doesn't know diddly about planes.

The Chinese spy balloon was at 40,000 to 60,000 feet. Balloons can go up to 135,000 feet.

A C-130? 33,000 feet, empty. A gunship with all the guns sticking out and enough fuel and ammo to do the job? A lot less than that.

The F-22 has a reported ceiling of 65,000 feet. That's why they used it.
