Like it or not, yelling liar, etc. during a speech to a national audience does not serve Republicans well...media will see to that. Media excuses Dems for the same. I have no use or sympathy for Biden...he deserved the yelling, but that is not my point.

Really?

They didn't seem to care when the Democrats did it.

We are past that.

They're impeaching and violating civil rights. Republicans are sitting on their hands.
I disagree. I'll say it again...Why are we acting like there's only one single choice between 'sit on your hands' or 'throw tantrums'.

Pick a different option. Be the adult in the room. The adults should have control over the children. Find/use leverage.

Stop acting like a child...be the option that doesnt look like them. it does nothing, other than make you look bad, like them. It simply creates a mess, which is what we're currently in (and what most people are looking for a way out of).

Are you saying that there are not currently sitting GOP congressmen who want to remove SA/Medicare?

Because that is a lie

If you were even a tiny little bit intellectually honest you would finish that statement with "and replace it with something more efficient and sustaining."

So try and keep doing what is not working? Got it. Maybe this election cycle it will work.

That is the case no matter what republicans do. They can't win the propaganda war, so they need to make sure they're getting their message out to their base by speaking up. Sitting on your hands is not speaking up.

Not even remotely what I suggested.

In what way does anyone think this 'works'? What does it actually accomplish? Specifically, what did MTG fix or solve? For that matter, what issue did Pelosi solve by tearing up the sheets?

It's theatre. I'd suggest it's theatre for the ignorant, who dont have the awareness/ability/intelligence to look past the show. It doesn't 'do' anything. It's just shameless self promotion by the actors. Absolutely nothing more.

Act like the adult. Propose actual solutions. Communicate those effectively. Gain leverage.

Dont keep doing what's not working...and dont act like a child.

What a deflection. Biden's comment in itself was a lie in the fact that no one is currently proposing specifically targeting SS/Medicare. There is no legislation on the table, or being discussed.

That said, SS/Medicare as currently configured are unsustainable. Biden himself argued this in 1995 and beyond. My, how things change when there are political points to be scored.

With regards to the current environment, we have seen a government spending spree like never before - some justified, some not. There's plenty of low hanging fruit to trim before even looking at SS/Medicare.

You know all of this. So does Biden. It was a simple, dishonest talking point, and it deserved to be called out.

Furthermore, I challenge you to provide a SINGLE example of a Republican who wants to remove Social Security or Medicare.... Just because.

Somehow, some way, the Republicans have to persuade the mushy middle to vote for them rather than the Democrats. That's who generally decides elections. Will MTG acting like a professional wrestling character get them inclined to pull the R lever? I doubt it.

So tell us...what are the other options.

I mean options that actually work, not pie in the sky if we just hold hands and are nice they will eventually see that we aren't evil stupid options.

Again - this mentality that politics is anything other than wallowing in the gutter is just stupid. It never has been, going back to the Founding Fathers in our country and eons prior to that in all civilizations. It has never been this genteel prim and proper organized group of people - ever. The BS your grandparents told you about how the good old days were was exactly that - bs. Acting like the R's are somehow childish or out of line is just stupid, and indicative that you are the type of person that puts more effort into caring about how democrats see you than actually seeing that the status quo isn't working and won't work with respect to how the R's have operated for the last 30 years.

I would like to see constitutional amendment on term limits and much stricter qualifications for election to office as well as mandatory retirement ages. Add in campaign finance reform and do away / reform lobbying. You have to start there to even remotely address the *******ized process we have now.

What? I dont care how they see me, or my representative. No one cares about that; especially in these divided times.

My goal would be to paint them in the worst light...to their constituency. Focus on Neutering them, dont imitate them...I'd argue it helps them much more than it does the Rs.

Again, their antics havent actually done anything. Nothing. It's theatre. Absolutely nothing more

Will the R's get the mushy middle to pull the lever for them by being submissive and quiet and continuing to show that they have no actual backbone?

Doesn't seem to work well for them either. The last time one of the "presidential" R's won? Bush in 2004. That is nearly 2 decades ago. Since then the moderate and presidential and whatever other term you want to use R candidates got dick slapped around in the elections.

Let's put Romney up again, he checks the boxes that so many concerned moderates need checked. Tell me how that will go.

I would have agreed with this maybe a decade ago. But not anymore. These people are true evil and don't even acknowledge reality...they (the left) wanted to ruin the lives of anyone who refused to comply with their mandated medical decisions. They deserve much more than "verbal disrespect" imo. That is not a threat...just saying, i am not going to cray over insults. They are despicable and evil to the core.

Right. So, if that's all true, why act like them?

Be the adult in the room (country). Give the people a much better option. Dont act like the people you just described as despicable.

Yeah, the whole "be the good, polite conservative" while they call you a racist and a nazi isn't working

When I worked with young men in CPS custody, they all wanted repect, love, their freedom etc. But what they really wanted was an easier path to run a scam on you. They view "nice" as a sign of weakness. Democrats and liberals have the same pack mentality. You are enabling them every time you dont say no. You are in their way, that is just about it with them. They operate about like prison inmates who try to get women to help/fall in love with them. Same MO

Get out of hear with that Romney BS. The question here is simply whether or not having MTG dress up and comport herself in a way that ensures that she gets on camera is helpful to the conservative cause. It may help her cause, but I don't think it really advances the conservative cause. Whether it does or doesn't, it's a tempest in a teapot.

Do you really think that is going to happen? Be honest with yourself when you answer that.

I'll tell you right now though - it isn't happening. Their constituency doesn't care, and the media is providing every bit of cover required to justify whatever actions they do. These are the same people that would not condemn socialism you are talking about.

Revise your last sentence - their antics haven't done anything for you. Because you have a warped vision of what politics is, and won't bring yourself to admit that reality is far different than your fantasy land. You absolutely do care how they see you, otherwise you wouldn't be harping on how "unprofessional" or "childish" a few simple callouts are in your eyes.

It doesn't accomplish anything. It's just self promotion. It's just theatre.

Acting like the Rs are weak if they dont act like a child is such an odd argument to make, to me.

It also assumes the two sides of the aisle are really against each other. They are all swampish, and looking out for themselves. You want power? Offer real solutions.
