OK. What did McCarthy, in this example, do that people didn't like?
And don't assume some screeching MSM reporter = "half the country (or more)".

But the press DOES get to determine if he's answered a question. He may decide not to answer it, but that doesn't mean it's answered.
He's not admonishing press behavior, here. He's simply announcing that he'll only cooperate with the press when he feels like it.
His supporters will like that. His non-supporters won't. But this smells like dodging accountability.
has this actually happened though?aggiedent said:
I'm assuming you didn't listen to the whole thing before you decided to make a snarky post. If you had, you would have realized he DID do something.
He stopped Schiff and Swalwell from serving on intelligence committees.

that is his intent, but I am hearing now there may be enough lame GOP pols who vote to keep the three of them on the committees because of "fairness"
or at least keeping that anti-semite Ilhan Omar on the Foreign Affairs Committee. because we definitely need more leftist somalis on our main defense committees.
All it needed was a "motion denied" at the end. RIP Herman Munster.AgOutsideAustin said:Ag87H2O said:
That is the most coherent, concise, articulate statement from a Republican Speaker in a long time. Maybe since Gingrich. Glad McCarthy is sticking to his word.
Could not read your first sentence without it sounding like the Judge from My Cousin Vinny. Yes I'm juvenile…..

I'm referring to him saying he'll only answer questions he feels like answering.
Telling reporters, "You get what you get."
The problem with this is that it doesn't matter what he says or does. The left would oppose anything from him even if his actions generally agreed with their worldview. They oppose for the sake of opposition and scoring political points. Him sticking to the generally accepted views and beliefs of republicans/conservatives or based on facts brought forward by the intelligence community in this case is not dodging questions; its doing his damn job.Jeeper79 said:
If people like McCarthy (or virtually any politician) would stop doing things that about half the country (or more) doesn't like, they wouldn't have to dodge the questions they get from the media about them.

Good comeback, but to be fair, politicians usually don't answer direct questions and the reporter should press them until they do.2012heisman said:.@SpeakerMcCarthy to reporter: Let me be very clear & respectful to you. But that's how it should work, right? People answer questions asked, and by default, that's the answer.Jeeper79 said:Some Junkie Cosmonaut said:

Isn't it weird for the person asking the question to tell someone I don't like you're answer, give me another one Isn't it the job of the journalist to follow up on the answers by investigating to see if it's true or not?
If the subject doesn't answer, shouldn't the journalist dig or come up with another angle?
Seems like this is standard Q&A.
"reporters" "journalist" You mean party members.Jeeper79 said:Some Junkie Cosmonaut said:
