Voluntary Hunger Games (24 death row inmates each game like the actual Hunger Games)

Livestreamed on television and the internet for pay-per-view, generating a ton of revenue for the state

Survivor is released on parole for the rest of their life with a 24/7 ankle monitor

If parole is revoked, the survivor is immediately sentenced to life without parole and is ineligible to ever be released from prison

While the survivor is on parole, the family members of the deceased victim or victims will be granted immunity for anything they choose to do to the survivor

Yeah because that idea isn't open to corruption.



What happens when you run out of inmates and the state needs more "contestants". Or they want to spin it off into a companion serious for lower level crimes.

In my scenario, they would have to sign a contract if they wanted to participate, and they would be provided with suicide pills, so they can kill themselves at any time during the game.

Don't do the game idea.

Just sentence them to life.

That means as long as medical people can keep the criminal alive while conducting medical testing and experiments.

(I must add that I lifted this idea in its entirety from a short story in a book called The Twelve Frights of Christmas.)

A contract? Because if there's one thing a death row inmate respects it's civil laws?

And, the reason they're on death row is because they cannot function in society - ankle monitor or not. You think they'll be employable? Nonviolent felons have a hard enough time.

And, there are plenty of victims who have no interest in vengeance. That leaves one more violent, unemployed, psycho in the population.

It's voluntary in the sense that they're not forced into the game and don't have to agree to participate in it if they would rather be executed instead.

After signing the contract, they would be unable to opt out of participating. Maybe instead of only the victims' families being granted immunity for what they do to the inmate after they're released, that could extend to everyone else being granted immunity as well.

It would be more sick if they were forced into it, but they don't have to choose to participate if they don't want to, and they would have suicide pills so they can kill themselves at any time during the game.

They're technically under duress, but they're not being threatened with anything if they refuse. If they refuse to participate, nothing happens to them except for the lawful sentence that was imposed on them.

LOL. The Hubs had a very dear friend, WWII Iwo Jima vet, who was having a problem with his teenaged son back in the day. Kid got into trouble with the law. He called the judge to arrange jut that. Kid went into the military and then became a well respected LEO in Arkansas.

so… you want to take the most savage of convicts (mentally and or physically)… have them perform in front of victims, family of victims, children, etc… and the most savvy, vicious, and/or powerful performer of the group gets released? But have no fear, they sign a contract (because they clearly care about laws) and wear an ankle bracelet? and they also wear a target enticing other presumably 'good' people to do something violent they otherwise wouldn't?

People could also bet on the inmate they think will survive. They would pay a certain amount of money to the state, depending on what the inmate's odds of surviving are, and if the inmate dies, they don't win anything, but if the inmate survives, the people who bet on them win money proportionate to the inmate's odds of surviving. They can also do the same thing for the inmate least likely to survive.

They would be forced to participate after signing the contract, and if someone decides to kill the survivor after they're released, that's on them. Also, no one's forced to watch, since it's pay-per-view.

There could also be disqualifications on who's allowed to participate. For example, if someone was convicted of mass murder (four or more victims), killing a police officer or committing murder while incarcerated for a murder conviction, they would automatically be disqualified from participating in the game. There could be other disqualifications as well.

What if the survivor had their sentence reduced to life without parole instead of being released? That way, they're still never getting out of prison, but they have an incentive to participate, since they get to avoid the death penalty if they survive.

I get that. Hence the reference to other movies having similar type story boards for a movie pitch. Why not just let marksmen and women compete to be the ones selected for a manhunt?

Wasn't that plot of a movie a few years back where conservatives were the "targets"?

So in your scenario, the death row inmates would be told that they would get a reward if they were the survivor as an incentive to get them to kill each other, but the survivor would be killed anyways?
