I changed it in a previous message to say they would have their sentence reduced to life without parole instead of death. Maybe they could have some small luxuries as well, like free commissary items for life.

Welcome to the Thunderdome! Only one person walks out

and is immediately executed.

Would anyone here be opposed to my idea if the survivor got their sentence reduced to life without parole instead of being released? Maybe they could also get free commissary items for life and would be allowed to get a free associate's degree as well. They would also get autographed copies of the Hunger Games books if they requested them.

Also, why don't they literally work them to death with hard manual labor? It seems like they could at least pay for themselves if they work hard enough.

Then comes the morale repercussions of consuming, or worse, enjoying - would be significant. How disgusting and demoralizing for a society to glorify that brutality.

How about a firing squad within a week of sentencing and the family gets the bill for the ammo. Those on their best behavior during trial are declared the winner. As a winner, they get one to the dome so it's over instantly

Maybe instead of it being available for the public to watch, it could be private, and there would be no betting aspect. After each game, the names of the inmates, their crimes, the order they died and the manner of death would be released. The information related to the survivor would be released as well.

How would they determine who was on their best behavior if several of them were?

So it's no longer a revenue driver, then there isn't really any 'good' reason to support something like that.

You can have unlimited winners in my version because none of them get back on the street

It would reduce the number of death row inmates, since it usually takes very long for them to be executed after being sentenced to death.

In my revised version, they wouldn't be back on the street either, since they would get life without parole instead of the death penalty.

I say give them the option of serving life in prison, but they are used for medical experiments when humans are needed. Oh, and no more appeals.

There could also be disqualifications on who's allowed to participate. For example, if someone was convicted of mass murder (four or more victims), killing a police officer or committing murder while incarcerated for a murder conviction, they would automatically be disqualified from participating in the game. There could be other disqualifications as well.
So, only the nice death row inmates can legally murder one another?
