It's the best version of Romeo and Juliet. This is kind of strange because about eight years ago or so she said that she agreed with the scene being filmed the way it was. The nudity is truly very brief. She also said that it was handled extremely professionally.

And things were very different in the early 70s on children actors, they certainly wouldn't do it today.

In the late 80's that's the version they showed in middle school. When your go to was the Sears Catalog or if you were lucky an old playboy your buddy had this was a big deal to happen at school. All of a sudden a bunch of middle school boys were interested in Romeo and Juliet for a day.

Early '90s and this scene came up while the English teacher was out of the room. When it was over one guy hopped up and rewound the tape back to the start of it while another was a lookout in case the teacher was spotted. We watched it on repeat 4 or 5 times before he made it back to the classroom

Like you said, not bad when the only other thing you've got are catalogs that came in the mail or maybe a magazine from somewhere!

Funny…. I was actually just thinking about this the other night. I'm a classic rock fan and we have a record wall in our living room next to our media center. We have 15 classic rock vinyl albums framed. They were chosen for a combination of the music, album art and how they fit in to our living room. One of the albums is Led Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy " which shows two naked children climbing the Giant's Causeway in North Ireland. The images show no genitalia and at most a little side butt. The two kids are brother-sister. Apparently the boy has grown up to be a tv host of some sort but the girl has melted down over her perceived abuse. You cannot see her face and it literally could be a dude in a wig. I mean damn… you are on the cover of a Led Zeppelin album. Some people refuse to be happy.

Everyone wants victim club membership these days. In the context of the time it was done and the story, it seemed more like an play on the idea of the original youthful innocence of Adam and Eve than some crude sexualization and exploitation but of course now everything gets construed in the most politically useful modern context.

Oh still true in 9th grade freshman English in the mud 90s. One kid smuggled in a universal remote. We got to see it 3 or 4 times. Best thing many of us had ever seen and still way better than anything the Sears or JC Penny catalog had to offer!
