I'd probably wait until the end to draw any firm conclusions

Correct. Taibbi addressed this in the first few posts. They were addressing issues for both sides but due to the left leaning affiliations of most Twitter employees, it skewed heavily one direction. Then the Hunter Laptop, and it went straight to the top.

Treating the Hunter laptop as child porn level stuff. Which, ironically, it did contain child porn. Of the President's son and the President's granddaughter.

At the time it was presented, I think a pretty fair legal route for Twitter to take would have been to say, this might be hacked material and against our policies.

But, that's not really what they did.

But, was he really standing up for free speech or just trying to be pragmatic about the issue? In other words, he seemed to be saying that he thought it would hurt the Biden campaign more than help, so that was his ultimate rationale for opposing Twitter's stance.

Very true and that is certainly a valid interpretation of the ultimate motive here. Still the rationale presented is clearly better than "orange man bad suppress all other views"

But they were not censoring hacked material. They were censoring a news outlet and those commenting and sharing a sourced news story by the Country's oldest newspaper and one of the largest newspapers.

A story that the very well experienced editors, owners and lawyers at this newspaper approved to print.

And they themselves admit the premise is loose and will not hold up, but gives them some breathing room to appease team Biden.

So it was absolutely NOT against their policies. They lied to themselves and to the public, at the request of a powerful political candidate.

You got squashed by Twitter for even sharing the links in DMs - a restriction only used for extremes like Child Porn. Twitter employees and Gov conspired to interfere in the 2020 election by burying negative stories and this feed by Taibbi is spilling the beans on it.
I think people are reading a lot into this bc hopes are so high to find something to take the Bidens down. The left did the same thing with Trump and Russia. It's far too early to make any sense of the impact and any repercussions. But Elon sure is increasing Twitter activity. He's a great marketer

This is going to do wonders for Taibbi's substack. He's gone from 600K to over 900K followers on twitter in the last hour. He deserves it in an industry (journalism) that has been in the grave for quite some time, at least in the mainstream.
