it's also worth noting that one of the comments on his pics was made by the Jack that Kaylee called 7 times around the time if the murders

The reddit indeed is a good place for some perspective. Immediate responses to the awkward neighbor mention comparisons to meter reader in Caylee Anthony's case and you could also point to the Olympic Park bomber.

They also make note that with the frat bros locked down on their info / interviews and general and understandable unwillingness for other young students to discuss, the media will find someone who will chat. And goofballs are ones that typically pick up the phone and agree.

Appreciate as always your analysis Hawg, even as others try to lock down the thread and take one liner pot shots at others.

Like on news stories happening in the South. They always find the most toothless, barely coherent people to interview.

This puts a different and sad spin.

Quote:

Goncalves had just purchased a Range Rover and returned to school two days before she was killed, according to her mom, Kristi Goncalves.

"She just bought a brand new vehicle for herself, her first vehicle," Kristi told Fox News' Lawrence Jones.
Quote:

"She went home Friday to literally go show off her new vehicle. She was like, 'Maddie has to see my new ride. Like, she has to see this.' And she was talking to Maddie the whole time going back and forth between the car she was buying."
So Kaylee was at her Mom's and left to go back to Moscow earlier than planned to show her best friend her new car. Had she waited until Sunday? Awful.

Not that it matters but I heard it was a 2015.

New to her. Think it was her first car, too. She was about to graduate and had a job lined up in Austin. So she could afford it herself. That's a milestone for a college kid. Graduation, new job, buying their first car on their own.

I'd like to think her pointing out the year wasn't a shot at the kid or the car. Simply attempting to head off the inevitable squealing about a college kid in a "new" Rover.

If a-holes could fly this place would often be mistaken for an airport. ETA: I wasn't referring to anyone in particular. Just an obvious, general observation.

That is exactly how i meant, but Ms Hawg is correct. It was new to Kaylee. And it had probably been well maintained

Not sure how well they work so asking. If the perp placed their cell phone in a Faraday bag, can it still be traced and geolocated?
FriskyGardenGnome
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
Yes, some Faraday bag sellers claim it will block all signals, including the ability to geolocate the phone.

This whole thing bothers me. I know one thing, I could never understand anyone having the capacity to do something like this.
Family in our town was found murdered……a young woman, her mother, and her little baby. The woman and her mother were members of our church, and were next-door neighbors for many years. Surviving daughter happened to be in elementary school when murders occurred, and she was temporarily placed in our custody. I didn't sleep at all that first night, not knowing who was the killer. Local police and Texas Rangers, along with our pastor, came to our house and told the daughter that she would never see her mother again. Before the funerals, relatives of the family came to our house, including two of the primary suspects (estranged husband of the woman, and the brother of the woman). Shortly after the funerals, they arrested the brother for the killings. He was using drugs and had become enraged at his mother. I never thought he was capable of doing such a despicable deed.

What is even more tragic is that the woman's older brother had died in his late teens from a heart condition, and her father had been killed by his girlfriend, after he had divorced her mother.
I was in high school at the time of these murders (VaultingChemist and I are from the same small town). I remember a classmate's mother was the bus driver taking the daughter home when the scene was discovered.

I have wanted to go to law school since I was super young, so I went to as much of the trial as I could. Our bumbling DA did his best to lose the case (only issue was sanity, dude confessed). But he was convicted of capital murder.

Here, if it was a fellow student, there will be a slip-up or a snitch. There always is. My buddy was a Harris County Felony Chief forever, and he said someone always screws up or talks.

This case reminds me of a horrific, brutal quadruple homicide of young (HS?) kids in Clear Lake 10-15 years ago. It was 2 of their friends who did it. One committed suicide, the other was prosecuted.

That is a horrible incident, especially for a small town.

He has an alibi. Has surveillance cameras in his home showing when he arrived home that night and did not leave again. The victims were still alive well past the time he arrived home, in the same clothes (unbloodied) as he was wearing in the live twitch stream at the Grub Bus. (That's a thing, Grub Bus has that live twitch stream to watch drunk people getting late night munchies. That's what passes as entertainment in Moscow, apparently.)

About the only thing he saw that night was that the girls were drunk and they were picked up by a dark blue or black sedan at the Grub Bus.

Of course not. I'm not an online stalker nor even post anywhere but here.

But you know that.

I follow the evidence, which has been deficient in this case thus far. Trying to connect dots in my world is not about FB groups, reddit threads nor even your attempts to get this thread nuked.

This is Idaho, not Minneapolis after George Floyd.

That makes more sense, if Kaylee was graduating and moving out. Her room was being packed up, sleep in the double bed with her lifelong bud. Pack more the next day.

Sooo, only two rooms with blood spatter?

Was going to post this earlier but was invited to take a bit of a break.

Along with the vigil tonight, here is the obituary for Xana Kernodle. A reminder that whilst we do speculate and may make assumptions or discuss theories that may ultimately prove incorrect, there are real victims, real young lives lost before ever realizing their potential. At least one of whom was only days away from huge nex steps.

https://cdapress.com/news/2022/nov/30/xana-kernodle-20/

I think the overall tone on this thread has been respectful and informative, No one has been making blanket statements that "the butler did it" and then questioning how police must be so stupid to not have the butler in jail.

Others make wild ass claims that the killer will never be caught and chuckle at us "true crime wannabes" who really just have an interest in these types of crimes, not from a sick obsession but from a general curiosity about what leads a person to commit these crimes and how these young people found themselves as victims, either targeted or random, or targeted at random.

Again, I appreciate those who have contributed information, insight and measured conjecture.

See, this is the part of something like this that I find really hard to wrap my head around. A handful of college kids, doing more or less the same things most of us did at 20 and 21, interacting with roommates and like in your post her all excited about showing her best friend her new car. Go out and have a good time, come home, go to bed and then someone is stabbing you, taking away your life, your dreams, your everything.

Part of it might be my getting older and what once might not have bothered me all that much now does, and I didn't know anyone involved. I have seen 5 dead people in my life, two were quite gruesome and one of them was an older man on the side of a city street that we watched die while we were waiting for an ambulance. None of those deaths really registered with me. And part of it is having children and grandchildren and worrying about some random person or persons harming them and not being able to do anything about it.

Damn. Was worried this was going to happen.

Quote:

Detectives do not know whether the four University of Idaho students killed in their off-campus home last month were specifically targeted, police said Wednesday in what may be their strongest departure yet from their earlier statements.

Police say they're reacting specifically to information they say a prosecutor's office released this week about the killings in the college town of Moscow: "That one or more of the occupants were undoubtedly targeted."

That information released by the prosecutor's office "was a miscommunication," police said Wednesday.

"Detectives do not currently know if the residence or any occupants were specifically targeted but continue to investigate," the city's statement said.

Details about what the prosecutor's office said this week weren't immediately available. CNN has reached out to the Moscow police and the Latah County Prosecutor's Office for clarification about Wednesday's police statement.

Wednesday's police statement also differs from statements police themselves have made earlier about whether the students were targeted.

The four students Ethan Chapin, 20; Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Madison Mogen, 21 were found stabbed to death in an off-campus Moscow home, upending a town that hadn't recorded a single murder since 2015.
LINK

Thanksgiving holiday aside, all four victims were sorority or a frat member. Those connections and what they would have known about the victim's other connections, not to mention the two surviving roommates' knowledge, and still no leads.

Finding DNA in blood that does not match the victims' DNA stil requires a match in a database.

WTH?

Quote:

The prosecutor in charge of the Idaho quadruple-murder case says there's been a misunderstanding when cops said this crime was targeted -- apparently, they meant the house itself was in somebody's crosshairs ... not necessarily any individuals themselves.

Bill Thompson -- who's overseeing the investigation in Moscow -- told NewsNation using the word "targeted" to characterize this was probably wrong ... conceding it could've been interpreted to suggest one or more of the four victims were in the killer's crosshairs. But, Thompson now says that's not necessarily the case.
Quote:

Instead, he said this home was actually what the murderer was laser-focused on, but he never explained what he means ... or why cops might think that.

Thompson does say they're still looking into whether any of the victims may have been the target, but for now ... it doesn't sound like they've uncovered anything to connect that dot. He also says nothing strange - like symbols are markings -- were left behind.
Quote:

He goes on to say he's not aware whether the doors to their rooms were locked, and also can't say for sure whether they were all sleeping at the time of the killings. BT also says law enforcement has no reason to believe this was drug-related ... so not much clarity.

Cops have stumbled a lot since the murders, making statements, then taking them back, creating confusion in the community and anger among families of the victims.

The house being the "target" points to the landlord. Not buying that.
