Maybe the one silver lining for Tuesday's results is that republicans no longer need to be afraid of crossing trump. Most of his extremest battleground state candidates lost (including Mastriano who got smoked) while candidates like Kemp and DeSantis dominated. His unhinged rants can safely be ignored so hopefully more republicans are coming around to that.
Another poster said Trump is "far right" and you say candidates were "extremist". In what way were some of these candidates "extremists"?

Are you seriously asking how someone like Mastriano or Dixon would be considered an extremist?
Yep, especially if you keep in mind that late-term abortion is the extreme position.

He doesn't have the power to burn it down unless the party gives it to him.

He can if he successfully convinces his supporters that it was "rigged" against him. He's not like Bernie, who will take the obvious scheme against him lying down and get in line behind Hillary and Biden. Trump will do the exact opposite. He'll manufacture a cheating scandal (like he tried to do with Ted in Iowa) and get enough people to hate "the establishment" so much that they with sit it out or vote for him 3rd party.

Trump will run in the primary and most likely win. You either accept it or you don't. Once this heats up, it will be fun so dont be a stick in the mud and whine about your daddy Trump.

Solid convincing. It's always good to tell your allies to respect their "daddy"

Trump isn't going to win the primary. He's not going to pull Pennsylvania, a lot of the Midwest, Georgia, the north east, Florida. The west and south west will be a struggle.

He'd lock up West Virginia, Oklahoma, the Dakota perhaps. Everything else would be a fight.

You seem really enthusiastic about voting for a geriatric while mocking conservatives... maybe JObama is more your cup of tea.

Sounds good. I think Trump should go ahead and run but he is going to lose. He's getting weaker every day and now the only reason people are giving to vote for him is that he will burn everything down if you don't. Guess what? If that's his pitch he is going to try to burn it all down regardless. I hope he comes to his senses. If he wins the nomination then I'll vote for him. Will you vote for DeSantis if he beats Trump? Still haven't gotten that answer from any of you folks.

BTW, Trump's ability to "burn it all down" is a lot less than he thinks. People are loyal to him but not to the point of going against their self interests, at least very few feel that way. This is politics.

As an aside, Trump has done this to himself. He foolishly endorsed all of these candidates yet held on to his $100 million war chest. That money would have bought him a ton of allies that he will need but instead he just showed everyone that he doesn't care if you lose and if you do he will disavow you in a heartbeat. He also only did a few rallies compared to 2020 and they were much more about him. He wasn't out fundraising for them. He wasn't making calls for them. He might do 1 event and mention them in a tweet.

Like I said I might vote for Desantis depending on the circumstances, but he better show some deference to Trump supporters.

But no, I'm not voting for anyone just because they're Republican. The candidates have been Romney and McCain recently, and of course Jeb was supposed to win until Trump slapped him.

Screw the Republican Party.

Meh, there's just not that many true Trump lovers.

The majority of his voters were conservatives that voted against Hillary the 1st time and were kind of pleasantly surprised enough with his policies to vote for him the 2nd time around.

He will be background noise at most by this time next year as long as the Republican Party doesn't get in the mud with him.

Compliment his past successes and then move past him.

Certainly DeSantis will. Remember he was one of Trump's first big endorsements and has been pure MAGA on policy. He's never said a negative word about Trump that I'm aware of in spite of Trump trying to rattle him and I doubt he does. Now will Trump find a reason to get his panties in a wad over DeSantis? Almost certainly, Trump isn't going to lose gracefully. I seriously doubt DeSantis goes really hostile on Trump and certainly his supporters though, that's just not how he rolls. Worst he might do is hit Trump with some facts that he doesn't like.

Trump has already said that if DeSantis runs, he has more dirt on him than anyone and knows him better than anyone other than maybe is wife.

I also don't think DeSantis wants to run against Trump. I think we'll see DeSantis endorse Trump. Media/Deep State doesn't want that, and DeSantis knows it.

Yeah, cause the anti-2a geriatric reality star being able to publicly torpedo the actual conservative is a brilliant thing.
