Trump is nothing more than a narcissist - it's always about him. He makes decisions based on what is good for him without consideration for what is best for the country or the Republican party.

The best thing he could do is realize that his 15 minutes is up and ride gracefully (if that is possible for him) into the sunset.
Why have over 50 candidates accepted his endorsement???????????????????????????

Actually he didn't. When you cheat, you win.

Even funnier, why did the Dems contribute millions and millions to the candidates Trump endorsed?

If this is pulled off, one of the biggest rope a dopes in modern elections.

Actually he did. He and his party spent the entire year letting Dems railroad state governments with emergency measure after emergency measure and did nothing to stop it until it was too late and they got the election taken, not stolen, from them.

Cry all you want but that's what happened. Time Magazine gloated over it with their big expose.

GOP needs new blood in 2024. Trump lost to a man who who is one step away from being a human vegetable. Plus Ron could give the GOP a potential 8 yr run, Trump is 4 more years max at this point.

Yep, will vote for the 3rd party candidate that is likely going to emerge.

Agree that if Trump runs, Desantis will sit it out. There is no benefit for him to get into it with Trump.

Of course it is always the voter's prerogative but I'm wondering who would be a 3rd party candidate that's remotely viable and able to qualify to be on the ballots in all states?

Bill Gates? Zuckerberg? Dorsey? Bloomberg? Because Elon can't.

If Trump runs (and I'm 99% sure he runs) Desantis won't run, nor will any serious Republican candidate that cares about their political career.

The phenomenon of Donald Trump has revealed so much about so many people, none moreso arguably than Republican politicians.

In retrospect "taken from" may be a better term for what happened. It wasn't "won" by Biden, that's for sure.

It'll all come out in the wash when they're head to head. Trump won't beat out Desantis just because he's Trump.

Name recognition is the most powerful weapon in politics.

I'd say Desantis is doing ok with name recognition

Go to your gas station and ask people who DeSantis is. Bet only 1 in 10 would know he's a governor and probably 1 in 20 would know it's florida...

People know Trump. They knew him before the WH . Ron DeSantis is Sununu level name recognition. They might have heard him, maybe even good things, but to put a name to a face or a state, they can't do that.
You forgot the part where at least half of those LIV's hear Trump and roll their eyes at best or spit fire at worst. People know Hillary and Bush too, that doesn't make them good candidates. There is a lot of hunger out there for someone new.

There is none. People just want to say their piece and do their part online to tell us they are not supporting trump.

Yeah. Things are not the same as they once were. No such thing as a losing candidate from a bruising primary having "their turn" again in the next POTUS election. It ain't 2012 nor 2008 anymore. The line starts behind Trump.

That is not an endorsement of Trump running, at all. Just an objective political opinion.

Just because people prefer DeSantis to Trump doesn't mean they have TDS, they just see a better option. Not sure why that concept is so difficult.

But did he?

At the VERY most, a few dozen thousand ballots in swing states cost him an electoral college victory (the 5-10 million fake ballots is a fairy tale). Either way, he still got crushed in the popular by a zombie who didn't campaign and who'd never accomplished anything, this 4 years after barely eeking out a W over one of the most unlikable candidates in history.

Trump didn't do **** against the swamp when he could as a non lame duck. What idiocy to assume NOW, as a lame duck (if he could even win), he'd even be able to do a dang thing vs "the swamp".

What's disgusting? I don't think that's a threat at all. I think Trump is misguided in wanting to run again, but I don't think that is an out-of-line thing for him to say.

This is an important point. If Trump couldn't do with the congress he had, and the excuse is that they stood in his way…then it sounds like just more of the same if he's re-elected. There is also, statistically, a high probability he will diminish mentally as the years tick by. So many have hung all their hopes (and faith) on him and him alone. TDS swings both ways

A lot of people, including conservative patriots, know who Trump is and will gladly say "no, thank you" if he and Desantis are in a dogfight.
DeSantis will not get into a dogfight with Trump. Little upside for DeSantis in that scenario and a lot of potential downside.

DeSantis doesn't need to get into a dogfight, though. If it comes down to just Trump and DeSantis, and not a billion other candidates like in '16, there's more than enough people that hated Trump and didn't vote for him a second time that will gladly vote for DeSantis.

All DeSantis has to do is let Trump be Trump. Yes Trump's base will cream themselves with glee that he's back to his old self, but that won't work again.

The best thing that can happen for DeSantis is for Trump to declare he's running and then get back on Twitter that same day. Everyone who forgot why they didn't vote for Trump a second time will remember and all DeSantis will have to do is continue being a governor who actually does things for his state and the choice will be clear as day as to who the adult is in the room and who's the future of the party, and it's not the immature geriatric threatening to burn it all down if he doesn't his way.

I'm just not reading it that way at all. I wish Trump would just retire and be kingmaker with rallies for other candidates.

But he sees it differently. And because I can understand why he sees it that way with actual facts as of right now. As long as his base is there and they keep turning out for him, why wouldn't he believe it?

More importantly, why would DeSantis not believe it?
