A lot of people, including conservative patriots, know who Trump is and will gladly say "no, thank you" if he and Desantis are in a dogfight.
DeSantis doesn't need to get into a dogfight, though. If it comes down to just Trump and DeSantis, and not a billion other candidates like in '16, there's more than enough people that hated Trump and didn't vote for him a second time that will gladly vote for DeSantis.
All DeSantis has to do is let Trump be Trump. Yes Trump's base will cream themselves with glee that he's back to his old self, but that won't work again.
The best thing that can happen for DeSantis is for Trump to declare he's running and then get back on Twitter that same day. Everyone who forgot why they didn't vote for Trump a second time will remember and all DeSantis will have to do is continue being a governor who actually does things for his state and the choice will be clear as day as to who the adult is in the room and who's the future of the party, and it's not the immature geriatric threatening to burn it all down if he doesn't his way.
But he sees it differently. And because I can understand why he sees it that way with actual facts as of right now. As long as his base is there and they keep turning out for him, why wouldn't he believe it?
More importantly, why would DeSantis not believe it?

So obvious every case brought about it has been laughed out of the courts? (Including by trump appointed judges)

Interesting timing. This reminds of the dissident right's insistence Fox is controlled opposition...
Speaking of-- who is doing their decision desk this time?
You chose Murkowski. That's better?agsalaska said:

If he runs against DeSantis and DeSantis beats him, Trump will probably claim DeSantis cheated. Because he is too arrogant to understand that making an election more about himself and his unlikeable personality traits rather than his policies was his own worst enemy and the primary cause of his political failure in 2020.
WTF are you talking about?? I chose Murkowski?aggiehawg said:You chose Murkowski. That's better?agsalaska said:

Are you asking why Desantis wouldn't buy into the belief that Trump is unbeatable and beloved by an insurmountable base of voters?
If that's your question the answer is simple. Trump believes that's the case because his ego requires him to be entirely insulated by sycophants who all tell him that's the case or else they get fired.
But just maybe Desantis has some intelligence of his own, a little less ego, and more self awareness than Trump. Maybe he's surrounded himself with smarter staff than Trump's and he's talking to all of the non-diehard MAGA Republicans who will help bolster him over Trump. Maybe Desantis understands what all of Trump's recent blabber really is - a bluff tactic simply meant to scare Desantis out of the race. Maybe Desantis knows that Trump's "invincibility" isn't quite what Trump proclaims it to be.
No. Skin deep analysis, not even minor sunburn level deep.Quote:

Try again and think this time. Think EV votes.

People who supported McCain said the same in 2008 and earlier than that.Quote:
No idea what you're tryin to say. That Trump can win states and deliver EV that Desantis can't? That's crazy. Or you're buying into the belief that all Trump voters will stay Trump voters in 2 years and that Desantis won't continue to grow in popularity and recognition outside of Florida. The fact that Desantis is the only Republican governor constantly in the national news says otherwise. Desantis wins Florida. From the looks of this board he stands a chance of winning Texas from Trump.
Bottom line is Trump loses to a Democrat in the next General, whereas Desantis doesn't.

I mean, look at what Desantis did tonight with Florida. Look at the election results under his leadership.Dark_Knight said:
I think I lean more DeSantis if he runs. However, the anti-Trump sentiment from some of you is hilarious. I still like Trump, but I can see the broader appeal with DeSantis.
