[This thread is being locked because the original post in another thread was also taken down. We are all passionate about politics and our candidates, but the insults and attacks on other posters has to stop. -STAFF]

I voted for Trump twice. I gave money to his 2020 campaign. I have stated numerous times for six years now that I did not want to vote for him in 2016 but finally came around just to cast a vote against Hillary. For me he was just another pompous ass uber rich guy that couldn't stop stroking his own ego. But.........he stood by his word, he fought for his campaign promises, he put America First (my "thing" my entire adult life). His policies, for the most part, great for this country, me, my family. Wanted four more years bigly.

But he is Trump. He's a broken arrow. He will never change. And he will ultimately drive away more votes, in particular from his own base/party, then even the commie dems will. So I read this post tonight and I just felt compelled to sit here and chop it to shreds. The below is reality. Take it or leave it.

Quote:

Trump was the best president since Washington. I'm ride or die with DJT.
Teddy, Ike, and Reagan say Howdy! Yes, he was good but tap the breaks. Good is many ways, complete failure in others.

Quote:

This is my frustration with you concerned "moderates" and DeSantis ass kissers.
I am not a moderate nor an ass kisser of any kind. Also, always a great idea (sarcasm, and based on this post, I feel compelled to point that out) to insult those in your own camp.

Quote:

You are all so ready to throw Trump under the bus because his mean tweets and insults of his enemies?.
First, mean tweets are no reason not to support him per se, but when they start alienating millions of people who would vote for him, yes, it becomes a major concern. Why? Because we then lose. Pretty 101 stuff. As for enemies, when he includes his fellow GOP members as enemies, how can you not see the problem? Smart people handle family disputes quietly out of the public view. Again, "smart" people.

Quote:

That is just stupid and you are all morons.
Awesome. Call people on your side morons. This is a great strategy to hold the base together. Seriously (again, sarcasm numb nuts).

Quote:

DeSantis Has a bright future in the GOP. I like him but he needs to wait his turn.
His turn behind a geriatric that could literally keel over any day? That is reality. And a geriatric that most of the GOP believes is killing the party? No! The time is now for new young blood. As a Trump worshipper you should know that considering the candidates he has personally endorsed. We need the young.

Quote:

here is NO WAY that DeSantis Is going to take a wrecking ball to the alphabet agencies the way Trump will.
The Alphabet agencies took Trump out. He could not garner enough support in DC to effectively fight them. Know why? He **** on half the GOP in the primary. You get **** on you tend not to stick your neck out for the guy that **** on you. Pretty basic stuff ace.

Quote:

We need a brawler
His name is Ron

Quote:

This red wave is BECAUSE of Trump and y'all are ready to abandon him . The facts are that his enemies deserve ZERO respect, bipartisanship, or any olive branches.
If there is a red wave it's because of the backlash against leftist lunacy. Agreed on the response to his enemies with one exception. Trump makes enemies out of his own party and voters. Please try to let that sink in.

Quote:

Trump is too nice to them IMHO. He shows much more restraint than I would.
Put the corndog down and learn about Reagan and how he handled his leftist detractors. Seriously. Class and intellect still matters.

Quote:

These *******s spied on a sitting President, stole an election, covered up the biggest scandal in American history and they are still attacking Trump.
Your one completely perfect point. Agreed.

Quote:

You dumbasses are falling for it.
Winning! Keep insulting the people that vote the same way you do. Always a great strategy (again sarcasm, sorry trying to help you out). How very "Trump".

Quote:

The best thing for the socialists is for republicans to start infighting over this bull*****
Irony is complaining about infighting when you'll go to battle with a guy who's entire mantra is verbally assaulting his own party. Un-F'ing-real. LOLOLOLOL.

Quote:

If "moderates" are going to vote dem and DeSantis ass kissers are going to split the party over Trumps insults, then the country is lost anyway.
You can't possibly believe DeSantis supporters are trying to split the party and if you do there is literally no hope in arguing. We believe we have a better candidate for conservatism. That's it. And we do. And also thanks for another personal attack. As noted, does wonders to get people to support your guy. Really. Great job.

Quote:

Sack up and screw your "feelings". The country is at stake. Trump showed you how to fight! If DeSantis cares about the party and the GOP winning, he won't split the party. Ride the MAGA wave and get ready for 2028.
My feelings? LOL. We all know what is at stake and what is at stake is that Trump is going to keep running his big mouth and piss off women and many others and alienate voters. What we know is that he's given the commie dems and media all the ammo they will ever need. And he will keep doing it. Grow up. The guy is great at policy but a complete buffoon at everything else. We have better options, at least one.

Trump is such a polarizing figure that it makes it impossible for him to be an effective leader going forward.

Find it hilarious that people actually think...this time, he'll "drain the swamp". He did jack **** last time, but now...as a lame duck on day one...he's going to run roughshod over everyone. People forget, Trump WAS the swamp, for decades before he switched parties but not ideologies as a fiscal liberal.

I loved Trump policy but he fell for the covid scam (and Pence was in on it). I'll vote for him as nominee but probably not the primary.

I voted for Trump in 2016 as a anti-Hillary vote as well. I was pleasantly surprised with his ability to seemingly work towards his campaign topics. Ar first I thought his rhetoric was funny. His rhetoric was definitely deserving as IMO most in DC are not there to better Americans lives, on both sides of the aisle. However, his ego would not allow him to read the room and adjust. Also, the 4 years straight of daily attacks by the MSM was too divisive. The MSM still talks about him almost daily and its been 2 yrs since the election.

Here's the deal, Trump WILL NOT WIN the election. I don't care how much some like or dislike him, he is so polarizing that he lost that contigent of people in the middle.

We need to back a candidate that can expose how absurd identity politics is but is reasonable enough to not drive away the moderate vote.

I voted for Trump twice. I did not support him in the 2016 primary and held my nose to vote for him in the general. I was pleasantly surprised by his policies during his term but his loss in 2020 was as much his own damn fault as anything else.
I'm a DeSantis supporter for the 2024 primary if he runs. However, I will vote for Trump if he's the nominee again. I'm not as pessimistic as some on his chances in 2024 as I think a wet blanket with an (R) next to his name would win if the political environment 2 years from now is anything like today. The only question is if it will be, and there's really no way of knowing.

The Dems are probably hoping Trump runs in 2024. That would be their best chance to win even if failed policies because of the notable Not Trump voter factor. Trump's extreme narcissism and lack of discipline ultimately makes everything about himself and not policies, playing into his opponent's hands.

If I was a Dem politician, I'd literally be trying to goad him into running, and hoping Musk gives Trump back his Twitter account because anything like that which helps Trump shoot himself in the foot the better.

This! Absolute losing strategy. You can't predict politics 6 months in advance let alone 4 years or more. Win now is all that matters!

If Trump wins the Primary in '24, I will vote for him in the general election.

If DeSantis runs in '24, I'll vote for him in the primary.

If Trump and DeSantis both run, I think it would be great for the Republican party and for the country if they ran a "gentleman's campaign" against each other. Respectful and positive. Policy-based only. No name-calling, no hyperbole. Just 2 candidates respectfully battling for votes. Focus any real ire on the Democrats.

Run a primary in which the loser can then support the winner without looking like a hypocrite.

Imagine if they ran a joint ad to kickoff their campaigns. Spoke in unison about the biggest issues the country faces, then a few seconds of each of them saying what they want to do, then end with a handshake and "May the best candidate win" and walk off in opposite directions.

THIS

I have no problem with the man, Trump.

Like Urban, I vote for policy, period. Trump is actually a decent salesman, but as Big Rob said, he never drained the swamp. Candidly, I'm not sure the swamp didn't increase and surround him more. To me, Trump's one big failure is being able to choose damn good people to surround him. He could never drain the swamp if he can't choose good people around him.

Yes, he was treated viciously and unfairly, more so than any president in the history of this country. Any president that had a baster shoved that far up his ass repeatedly, and was never indicted, is pretty damned clean. No president in the last 100 years could have survived that inquisition.

Through all of that, fairly or not, Trump is damaged goods.

I think you and I have very similar opinions and outlook on life so I know you think it is hilarious as I do when people here call you q concerned moderate or liberal. Has happened several times to me and just reminds me how ridiculous and narrow minded some people here are.

Keep it simple, vote for who you want in the primary and vote republican in the Election.
