Why not just correct the earth axis tilt to bring an always 12 hours each of darkness and light?

But seriously, changing a clock is an actual pain in the ass. Now dealing with senior center and clocks that need changing. The pets, kids and international meetings are just too much trouble. I say kill everywhere it outright and keep the time zones.

I'm always amazed seemingly well-educated people think that daylight savings time gives us more daylight.

I don't think anyone thinks the earths rotation slows down to give us extra daylight, at least I hope not.

It's just more useful for a lot of people to have daylight in the evenings than it is in the morning

Works for AZ and HI. Why not the rest of us?

No agriculture in either.

Never been to Arizona obviously.

When it's 115 degrees in the summer you wait until dusk to run errands or go out to eat. It doesn't get dark until after after 7:30. We don't want another hour of daylight in the evening.
What part of Arizona is that?

I've heard that Flagstaff and Sedona are a good bit less extreme than Phoenix or Tucson or Marana. Is that true?

Phoenix area. Flagstaff is at almost 7K ft elevation, so it is much cooler.
That makes perfect sense.

I know that in New Mexico, the Cloudcroft area tends to be much cooler in the summer. I think it's about the same elevation.

Thanks.

Houston is hotter than Arizona for actual feel, and I don't mind the extra daylight in summer.

The clocks have nothing to when duration of daylight....

Really? Didn't know that.

I always preferred the summer schedule, but even though I still do, I won't mind running in a little daylight here in November.

There are several states with more federal land and a higher percentage of federal land than Arizona. It's a low carrying capacity state for livestock so of course the per acre production is lower than many other states. Because of climate it's also a significant dairy state and very high in citrus production.

Just make this insanity end. I don't care how we end it just make it stop.
I use this time to change the clock batteries... But that is just me.

DST is about agriculture.

Once again, what are you basing this on?

Everyone in Ag hates DST.

Tf does the time have to do with crops growing? The sun is up the same amount of time… changing the clocks doesn't shorten the sunshine

Never gonna change. The gov't needs that hour 2x a year. That's when they change the batteries in the birds.

Well, "The Debt" seems to think that DST was made for Agriculture, so maybe he does.
